Layer Details
- Premium cover. A thicker fabric layer that is soft to the touch, which means a more cushioned first impression when you lie down. It is 100% removable and machine washable at 40°C, so keeping it fresh is straightforward.
- ThermoSync® foam. Graphite-infused foam that draws excess heat away from your body. In practice this means a more balanced, comfortable temperature through the night, useful if you tend to overheat.
- MemoryAdapt Foam. This layer moulds to your body's shape and distributes weight evenly, which means less pressure building up at your hips and shoulders. You should feel gently cradled rather than perched on top.
- Soft foam layer. An upgraded soft layer that adapts to your body from the first moment. It eases pressure points and makes it easier to settle into a comfortable position quickly.
- SupportBase. This transitional layer cushions the body and smooths the change from soft comfort layers to the firmer core. The result is balanced firmness that supports you without letting you sink too far.
- Pro spring system. Pocket springs arranged in 7 targeted zones that adapt to you from head to toe, which means firmer support where you carry more weight. A new comfort foam edge improves support when you sit or sleep near the sides.
- Bottom cover. A grippy base fabric that holds the mattress steady on your bed frame. It stops the mattress shifting about, night after night.

- Room to share in most bedrooms: At 135cm wide, the double fits comfortably in rooms where a UK king would dominate, which suits older terraces and compact new builds alike.
- Zoned support for two different bodies: The 7-zone Pro spring system adjusts firmness from head to toe, so each of you gets support suited to where you carry weight.
- Usable edges matter more at this width: With 67.5cm each for two people sharing, the comfort foam edge helps you use the full width rather than drifting toward the middle.
- Cooler when sharing: Two bodies generate more heat than one, and the graphite-infused ThermoSync® foam is designed to draw that warmth away through the night.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets and duvets are sold everywhere at every price, which keeps setup simple if you're furnishing a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, roughly 3m x 3m or a little under, where a UK king would leave no walking space. It also suits a guest room that needs to sleep visiting couples comfortably, or a solo sleeper who wants space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space and your room measures well beyond 3m x 3m. The UK king gives you an extra 15cm of width to share, so we'd recommend sizing up if the room allows it.

Is the Emma Original Pro in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and the 7-zone springs support each sleeper independently, so a lighter partner isn't dragged toward a heavier one. If either of you sleeps starfished or you share with children in the mornings, the UK king is the more comfortable choice.
What size room do I need for the Emma Original Pro double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and, in most layouts, room for a wardrobe and drawers too, which is why the double remains the default for first flats and typical second bedrooms.
Should I buy the Emma Original Pro in a double or a UK king?
It usually comes down to your room. The UK double is 15cm narrower than the UK king, and in a smaller bedroom that difference decides whether bedside tables fit on both sides. If you have the space and share the bed, the UK king is worth it; if space is tight, the double is the safer buy.
Will standard double bedding fit the Emma Original Pro double?
Yes. At 135 x 190cm it's a standard UK double, so any double fitted sheet and a 200 x 200cm double duvet will fit. One caveat: the mattress is 27cm deep, so choose fitted sheets with a generous depth or labelled extra deep, otherwise corners can ping off overnight.
Is the UK double Emma Original Pro a good guest room choice?
It's well suited to a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since it sleeps two without demanding a large room. The medium firm feel is a safe middle ground for guests with different preferences, and the machine washable cover is practical between visits. If guests are rare and the room is small, the UK small double saves 15cm of width.
