- The classic shared size: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double is the traditional choice for two, giving 67.5cm each for two people sharing.
- Pocket springs suit sharing: Springs that move independently mean less disturbance when your partner turns over, which matters more in a UK double where you sleep closer together.
- Fits rooms a king would crowd: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, small enough that most UK bedrooms can still take a wardrobe and drawers.
- Room for bedside tables: In a typical room, the UK double's 4ft 6in width usually leaves space for a table on each side, which the UK king often doesn't.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and duvets are sold everywhere at every price, useful if you're kitting out a whole home on a stretched budget.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in a typical UK bedroom and want space to share without the bed dominating the room, you're furnishing a first flat or a guest room that visiting couples will use, or you sleep alone and want space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner.
Consider another size if...
You share every night and regularly wake when your partner moves, or one of you is tall. The Harrison Spinks Extra Plush 3000 in a UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Harrison Spinks Extra Plush 3000 in a UK double big enough for two?
For most couples, yes. Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which has been the UK standard for shared beds for decades. The pocket sprung construction helps here, as each spring compresses independently and reduces the movement you feel from a partner. Broad or restless sleepers may prefer the extra 15cm of width the UK king offers.
What room size do I need for a double Harrison Spinks Extra Plush 3000?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allowance covers walking space and bedside tables on both sides. If your room is close to the minimum, the UK double is usually the sensible ceiling; the UK king needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m by our guidance.
Should I get the Extra Plush 3000 in a double or a king?
Choose the UK double if your room is modest or you want furniture on both sides of the bed. Choose the UK king if you share every night and want more space: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. Compare the prices for both sizes in the retailer listings on this page before deciding.
How long is the UK double version of this mattress?
The UK double measures 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. That 190cm length is the same as the UK single and UK small double, so taller sleepers who find their feet near the edge should look at the UK king, which is 10cm longer than the UK double.
Will a UK double fit up narrow stairs in an older house?
A UK double is generally the easiest shared size to move, and pocket sprung mattresses like this one flex a little on turns. Harrison Spinks doesn't publish handling guidance for this model, so if you have a tight terraced staircase or a narrow new build landing, measure the awkward point and check with the retailer before ordering.
