Layer Details
- Cover. Harrison Spinks' own woven cover meets fire safety standards without FR chemicals. That means fewer treatments between you and the fillings.
- Wool comfort layer. A layer of 100% traceable British wool sits near the surface, which means natural insulation and breathability where you'll feel it most.
- Blended fillings. Blended wool, hemp and flax boost airflow through the mattress. In practice, this helps keep you at a comfortable temperature overnight.
- Moisture-wicking layer. A further layer of cotton, hemp and flax wicks moisture away, which reduces heat build-up while you sleep.
- Durability layer. Ecotex fibres add durability, helping the fillings hold their shape over time.
- Posturfil mini springs. 1,000 Posturfil springs react instantly to movement. You'll feel this as flexible comfort that adjusts as you shift position.
- Mini springs. An additional 7,500 mini springs create more points of contact with your body, contouring closely to your shape for a more personalised feel.
- Cortec Quad Revolution springs. The base layer holds 1,000 Cortec Quad Revolution springs, with mini springs nested inside regular ones, individually pocketed and grouped in fours. This delivers adaptive, responsive support beneath the comfort layers.

- Space to sleep on different schedules: With 75cm each, an early alarm on one side is far easier to sleep through, because you're simply further from the movement.
- Pocket springs that keep disturbance local: Each of the 9,500 springs compresses independently, which means a partner rolling over registers as a ripple on their side, not yours.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so feet stay on the mattress rather than hanging past the wool comfort layer.
- Natural fillings across a wider surface: British wool, hemp and flax breathe across the full 150cm width, so neither sleeper ends up on a warm patch the other has left behind.
- A soft to medium feel you can spread out on: The gentler feel encourages moving around in the night, and this width means you can do that without crossing into your partner's half.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, one of you gets up hours before the other and the movement carries, or someone in the bed is approaching six foot and needs the 200cm length. It also suits couples whose dog treats the bed as its own; the extra width absorbs a third body far better than a UK double does.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m of room.

Is a UK king big enough for a couple with different sleep schedules?
Yes, and it's arguably the main reason to choose it. The 150cm width gives you 75cm each, and the Gold 9500's individually pocketed springs compress only where weight lands. Someone slipping out at 5.30am creates far less movement on your side than they would on a narrower mattress.
Is the Harrison Spinks Gold 9500 in a UK king long enough for tall sleepers?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, it gives you 10cm more length than the UK double. Anyone around the six foot mark tends to feel that difference straight away, since heels and feet stay on the sprung surface instead of drifting off the end of the mattress.
What room size do I need for a king size Gold 9500?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, and a new build master bedroom can fall short of that once fitted wardrobes go in. Measure with the furniture in place. If the numbers don't work, the UK double needs a slightly smaller 2.6m x 2.8m.
Should I get the UK king or the UK super king Gold 9500?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, with both sharing the same 200cm length, so it's a width decision rather than a length one. We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m of room for the UK super king, which rules it out in many UK bedrooms where a king fits comfortably.
Does the soft to medium feel change in the king size?
No, the feel is the same across every size of this mattress. What changes in the UK king is how you can use it: the 150cm width lets a restless sleeper shift position on that gentler surface without disturbing a partner, which is where the softer feel and the extra space work together.
