Comfort Layer
100% natural Yorkshire wool blended with cotton, flax and hemp fibres. These wick away moisture and regulate temperature, which means less overheating than you'd get from synthetic fillings.
Support System
5,750 pocket springs, a mix of traditional pocket springs and mini springs, each encased in breathable cloth pockets using Harrison Spinks' Cortec Quad Core spring system. Each spring moves independently, so you feel support where your body needs it rather than a uniform push back.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits almost any room: At 90cm wide it slots into small bedrooms, box rooms and lofts with sloping ceilings, and we suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space.
- Grown-up support for a growing sleeper: The Cortec Quad Core spring system supports the body in small independent zones, which means a teenager gets proper spinal alignment rather than a bouncy children's mattress.
- Cool for single sleepers: With no foam, only breathable fibres and springs, the wool and hemp layer wicks moisture, so a hot sleeper in a single bed stays drier through the night.
- Guest room ready: Medium firm suits most visiting sleepers, so it works in a spare room where you cannot predict who will be on it, although soft-mattress lovers may find it solid at first.
- Check raised frames first: The mattress is 28cm deep, which is generous for a bunk, cabin or mid sleeper, so measure against the frame's guard rail height before buying this size for one.
This size suits you if...
You're a single adult who wants natural materials and firm, precise support without paying for width you won't use, you're upgrading a teenager from a basic children's mattress to something that will last through the growth years, or you're furnishing a guest room and want visitors to sleep well on a medium firm feel that suits most people.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult sharing the bed, or you simply want more room to stretch out. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 45cm wider at the same length; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for it.

Is the Grassington 5750 UK single suitable for a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
Possibly, but check the frame first. The 90 x 190cm footprint fits standard UK bunk and mid-sleeper frames, but this mattress is 28cm deep, which is more than many raised frames allow. Safety guidance for bunks usually requires the mattress to sit well below the guard rail, so measure that height before ordering.
Is a UK single Grassington 5750 a good choice for a child or teenager?
For an older child or teenager, yes. The medium firm feel and 5,750 pocket springs give the kind of spinal support a growing body benefits from, and the natural fibres help hot sleepers. Younger children may find it firmer than they're used to, and it's a heavy mattress, so an adult will need to handle rotation.
Will the Grassington 5750 single fit in a small or awkward room?
At 90cm wide and 190cm long it's the standard one-person size, and it fits where larger sizes can't: under a loft slope, alongside a desk and wardrobe in a child's room, or two side by side in a shared or guest room. We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space so there's room to move around it.
What bedding do I need for this mattress in a UK single?
Standard UK single fitted sheets and a single duvet, typically 135 x 200cm, fit the 90 x 190cm footprint. The mattress is 28cm deep, so choose fitted sheets with a deep enough pocket, ideally 30cm or more, or they'll ping off the corners. Single bedding is the cheapest and most widely stocked of any size.
Where can I buy the Grassington 5750 in a single?
Availability varies by size, so the simplest route is to compare the retailers listed on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, which matters on a mattress at this level, where offers move around. If the UK single sells out, sizing decisions are covered in the sections above.
