Layer Details
Quilted panel sleep surface
A quilted panel with tufting hidden on the inside of the soft fabric cover, which means a smooth sleep surface without the knots or bumps you sometimes feel through traditionally tufted mattresses.
Enviropad filling
Three thick, fluffy layers of Enviropad filling relieve pressure build-up around your hips and shoulders. It's also fully recyclable, so the comfort layer doesn't end up in landfill.
Cortec™ Quad pocket spring core
The main Cortec Quad core places each spring in its own fabric pocket, secured together without glue. That means each spring moves independently, giving personalised support where your body needs it.
Posturfil mini pocket springs
1000 Posturfil mini pocket springs add a bouncy, comforting feel on top of the core. They also improve airflow through the mattress, which helps if you tend to sleep warm.
HD mini pocket springs
A further 2500 HD mini pocket springs provide additional bouncy comfort. This second mini spring layer is a large part of why the firm feel doesn't come across as harsh.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Less disturbance when one of you gets up early: The pocket springs move independently, secured without glue, which means a partner leaving hours before you causes less movement across a 150cm width than on a smaller mattress.
- 75cm of width each: Two people sharing get 75cm apiece, which is enough to change position on a firm surface without negotiating for space.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a real difference if one of you currently sleeps with feet near the edge.
- Firm support that holds across the full width: The 4000-spring construction supports each sleeper's body separately, so a heavier partner on one side doesn't tilt the surface for the other.
- Airflow across a bigger surface: The Posturfil mini springs improve airflow through the mattress, useful when two bodies share a bed and one of you runs warm.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, especially if you both like a firm feel and want to stop noticing each other's movement. It also suits couples where one partner is approaching six foot and needs the 200cm length, or households where the dog has claimed a corner and 135cm no longer stretches far enough.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king. In that case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and still gives a couple a firm, supportive base.

Is the Quilted Fusion 4000 in a UK king good for couples?
Yes, provided you both want a firm feel. The 150cm width gives 75cm per person, and because every spring sits in its own pocket, each of you gets support matched to your own body. Lighter side sleepers may still find it a little too solid, and that's true at any width.
Will a UK king reduce disturbance from a restless partner?
It helps in two ways. The extra width over a UK double means you're simply further from each other's movements, and the glue-free pocket springs respond individually rather than transferring motion across the mattress. If one of you gets up hours before the other, the combination makes early exits far less noticeable.
What room size do I need for the Quilted Fusion 4000 UK king?
We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, which leaves space to walk round the bed and open drawers. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear once wardrobes go in, so measure the usable floor rather than the room on the plan.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, it gives a taller sleeper meaningful room beyond a standard 190cm mattress. The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so if length is your main frustration, this size fixes it. The UK super king is the same length, so going wider adds nothing here.
Should I get the UK king or the UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king suits most couples: 75cm each and it fits a room of 2.7m x 2.9m. The UK super king is 30cm wider, which we'd suggest for a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, and worth considering if a child or dog regularly joins you. Compare the retailers listed on this page for both.
