Layer Details
- Cover. An in-house woven cover that's FR chemical-free, meeting fire safety standards naturally. That means fewer chemicals close to where you breathe all night.
- Wool comfort layer. Layers of British wool give a naturally soft yet springy feel. Wool insulates in winter and stays breathable in summer, so it works year round.
- British wool, hemp and flax blend. An additional comfort layer that increases breathability. It also helps reduce a build-up of mildew and mould over time.
- Cotton, hemp and flax blend. This layer wicks away moisture and adds further breathability. Useful if you tend to sleep warm or live somewhere damp.
- Ecotex layer. A sustainable layer made from recycled fibres that strengthens the mattress. It also keeps material out of landfill.
- Micro springs. 4500 mini springs provide targeted, contoured comfort. Their small size means more contact points with your body and better airflow through the mattress.
- Pocket springs. 1000 Cortec Quad Revolution springs, each with a smaller spring inside and secured in groups of four. They move independently, which means your partner's tossing shouldn't reach your side of the bed.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Real space for two: At 75cm each for two people sharing, you both get room to stretch out on a surface that gently cradles rather than pushes back.
- Springs that keep the peace: The 1000 Cortec Quad Revolution pocket springs move independently, which means an early alarm on one side is less likely to wake the other.
- Length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so anyone approaching six foot stops sleeping with their feet at the edge.
- Micro spring comfort across the full width: The 4500 micro springs give close-contact support wherever you lie, useful when a dog or a restless partner pushes you to the outer third.
- Natural fillings that breathe at scale: British wool, cotton, hemp and flax move heat and moisture away, so a larger shared bed doesn't turn into a warmer one.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double leaves you brushing elbows, or one of you keeps different hours and needs to slip out without waking the other. It also makes sense if either partner is approaching six foot, since the extra length is often the upgrade people actually feel. Allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m of bedroom, ideally more.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and still offers the same Soft to Medium comfort.

Is the Harrison Spinks Silver 6500 UK king a good size for couples?
Yes, for most. With 75cm each for two people sharing, you both have room to sink into the Soft to Medium surface without meeting in the middle. If one of you gets up hours before the other, the independent pocket springs help keep movement to one side. Very restless pairs might still prefer the UK super king.
How much space do two people get on the Silver 6500 UK king?
75cm each for two people sharing, across a total width of 150cm. On a softer mattress that width is noticeable, because you tend to settle deeper into the wool and micro spring layers rather than lying on top of them, and a cramped bed makes that gentle feel harder to enjoy.
Is the UK king Silver 6500 long enough for tall sleepers?
At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double. If one of you is approaching six foot and currently wakes with feet hanging off the end, that length is often a bigger daily improvement than the extra width, and the Soft to Medium feel supports side and back sleepers along the full 200cm.
What room size does this king mattress need?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with around 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables are in. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they look on the plan, so measure with furniture in mind. If the room falls short, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
Should we choose the Silver 6500 in a king or a super king?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and both are the same 200cm length. If your room comfortably exceeds 3m x 2.9m and you want maximum separation, the UK super king is the roomier pick. For most couples upgrading from a double, the UK king is space enough without dominating the room.
