Layer Details
- Cover. Wrapped in high quality wool and natural viscose, fibres that are incredibly soft to the touch. They're also naturally fire retardant, so no chemical treatments are needed.
- Comfort fillings. Multiple layers of wool, hemp and flax sit beneath the cover. These natural fibres provide soft, cosy comfort and breathe well.
- MicroHD springs. A layer of 2,000 MicroHD springs sits above the core spring unit, which means the surface responds more precisely to your body. It's designed to make the mattress feel more adaptive as you move.
- Cortec Quad springs. The core holds 750 Cortec Quad springs, a design that fuses four springs into one pocket. That means increased responsiveness compared with a single spring doing the same job.
- Support layers. Two layers of Ecotex fibres, made from recycled materials, sit beneath the springs. They give the spring system a stable base to work from.

- Spreading room for one: At 120cm across, the UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which means a solo sleeper can shift position freely without meeting the edge.
- Fits rooms a double crowds: It's 15cm narrower than the UK double, and in a box room or loft conversion that saved width can be the difference between walking space and squeezing past.
- Firm support in a lighter footprint: The 2,750-spring construction gives quick, responsive support in a size that's easier to manoeuvre up narrow stairs than a full double.
- Breathable in a smaller room: Wool, hemp and flax fillings let heat escape, useful in the compact bedrooms this size usually ends up in, where air can feel closer.
- Standard 4ft bedding: The small double is a stocked UK size, so fitted sheets and frames are straightforward to find, with a standard double duvet on top.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and have outgrown a UK single but can't spare the floor space a double demands, or you're furnishing a guest room or holiday let where couples stay occasionally rather than nightly. It also suits a teenager's room or a downsized bedroom, provided you can allow at least 2.4m x 2.8m and you're happy with a firm, springy feel rather than a soft sink.
Consider another size if...
Two of you will share the bed every night, in which case 120cm gets tight. The UK double is 15cm wider at the same length, and we suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m of room for it.

Is a small double big enough for two on the Classic 2750?
For occasional nights, yes. At 120cm wide the UK small double gives a couple noticeably less room than a UK double, and the firm tension means you won't roll into each other, which helps when sharing a narrower surface. For nightly couple use we'd point you to the UK double instead, which is 15cm wider at the same length.
What room size do I need for a small double Classic 2750?
We suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m. That leaves enough clearance to open the door, walk down one side and get to a wardrobe. The mattress itself is 120 x 190cm, so measure the room with furniture in place rather than empty, especially in a loft conversion where sloping ceilings eat into usable floor.
Is the small double Classic 2750 a good guest room mattress?
It's a sensible fit. Guests staying as a couple can share it for a few nights, a solo visitor gets generous space, and the 4ft width fits second bedrooms that a UK double would dominate. The natural wool and viscose cover needs no chemical fire treatments, a reassuring detail when different people sleep on it.
Will a small double mattress fit up narrow stairs?
More easily than a UK double. This pocket spring mattress can't be rolled or folded like foam, so the 120cm width matters on tight landings and in loft conversions. At 24cm deep it's a manageable height to carry, but measure your stairwell and any turns before ordering, since it arrives at full size.
Should I get the Classic 2750 in a small double or a double?
It comes down to the room. The UK small double is 15cm narrower than the UK double and the same length, so if your bedroom is under about 2.6m x 2.8m, the smaller size keeps walking space either side. Sleeping solo, you may simply prefer the small double and keep the floor space.
