Layer Details
- Cover. A cover of wool and natural viscose, fibres that are soft to the touch and naturally fire retardant. That means no chemical fire-retardant treatments are needed to meet safety standards.
- Comfort fillings. Multiple layers of wool, hemp and flax sit beneath the cover, which means a cosy surface feel that also breathes well. Natural fibres like these tend to sleep cooler than synthetic foams.
- MicroHD springs. A layer of 2,000 MicroHD springs sits above the core spring unit. These smaller springs add responsiveness and a more contouring feel at the surface.
- Support layer. Two layers of Ecotex fibres, made from recycled materials, support the spring system. A small sustainability point, and it gives the springs a stable base to work from.
- Core springs. The core holds 750 Cortec Quad springs, a design where four springs are fused into a single pocket. In practice that means increased responsiveness, so the mattress reacts quickly as you shift position.

- Real room to spread out alone: At 120cm wide, a solo sleeper can shift, sprawl and change position freely, and the responsive Cortec Quad springs make moving around effortless.
- Fits rooms a double would crowd: The UK small double is 15cm narrower than the UK double, which can be the difference between a door that clears the bed and one that doesn't.
- Breathable across the whole surface: Wool, hemp and flax fillings breathe well, so a solo sleeper spreading across the full 120cm width gets a cool surface everywhere, no warm patches.
- Copes with occasional sharing: The 2,000 MicroHD springs contour to each body, so a visiting couple can share comfortably for a night or two, even if it's snug.
- Standard 4ft sizing: The small double is a standard UK size, so frames and 4ft fitted sheets are easy to find, with a standard double duvet on top.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and have outgrown the width of a UK single, your bedroom, loft conversion or studio can't take a full double without losing the walkway, or you're furnishing a guest room where couples stay occasionally rather than nightly. The medium feel and springy, easy-turning surface suit a solo sleeper who moves about, and the extra 30cm over a UK single means you'll actually use that freedom.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, in which case 120cm gets tight over time. We'd recommend the UK double instead: it's 15cm wider and the same length, and we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is a small double big enough for one adult on the Classic 2750?
Comfortably. The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single and the same length, so a solo adult gets genuine stretching room. The Classic 2750's responsive springs suit a restless sleeper who uses that width, as turning over takes less effort than on foam. Taller sleepers should note the 190cm length before buying.
Can a couple share the Classic 2750 in a small double?
For occasional nights, yes. The 2,000 MicroHD springs contour to each sleeper and the natural fillings keep two bodies from overheating. For every night, though, 120cm is snug for two adults, and we'd point regular sharers towards the UK double, which is 15cm wider than the UK small double.
What room size do I need for a small double Classic 2750?
We suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m. That leaves enough space to walk round the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe. The mattress itself is 120 x 190cm, so measure your room, mark the footprint out on the floor and check the door still swings clear before committing.
How much smaller is the small double than a king in this mattress?
The UK small double is 30cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. That's a meaningful difference for couples, but for a solo sleeper in a compact room the UK small double keeps the walkway clear. For a UK king we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
Where can I buy the Classic 2750 in a UK small double?
Stock varies by size, so the simplest route is to compare the retailers listed on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, which matters with a mattress at this end of the market where sale pricing moves around. Check the size name carefully at checkout: 4ft, not 4ft 6in.
