Layer Details
- Damask Cover. A breathable Belgian damask fabric cover. It lets air move through the sleep surface, which helps you stay cooler through the night.
- Natural Silk Layer. A soft, lightweight natural silk layer sitting near the surface. It adds a gentle, comfortable feel over the firmer materials below.
- Authentic Traceable British Wool. Wool from British Cheviot sheep, traceable from farm to shop, chosen for a fleece that's strong yet soft. It provides a natural bounce and helps regulate your temperature, so you're less likely to overheat.
- Cashmere. A rare filling that's softer and finer than wool, typically reserved for higher quality mattresses. It adds a touch of surface softness to what is otherwise a firm mattress.
- 2000 Pocket Springs. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket, which means they work independently and respond to your body's shape rather than moving as one unit. That gives better pressure relief and less motion transfer between partners.

- 90cm each for two sharing: Each of you gets 90cm of width, so a partner who turns often stays comfortably out of your half of the bed.
- Pocket springs do more at this width: The 2000 pocket springs move independently, and with this much distance between sleepers, movement on one side barely registers on the other.
- Space for night-time visitors: If children wander in during the small hours, or a large dog treats the bed as its own, the extra width means nobody ends up clinging to an edge.
- Firm support across the full surface: The firm spring unit keeps back and front sleepers well supported wherever they end up on a bed this wide.
- Natural fillings that breathe: Traceable British wool, cashmere and silk under a breathable Belgian damask cover help two bodies stay cooler than they would on foam.
- Fills a large master properly: In a big bedroom where a smaller bed can look undersized, the 180cm width sits in proportion with the room.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the maximum standard width available, your partner is genuinely restless and distance matters more to you than any comfort layer, or children and pets regularly join you and everyone still needs their own space. Your room should allow it too: we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m so you can walk round the bed comfortably.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum, or you'd struggle to get a large firm mattress round a tight landing. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which gives couples generous space in a more forgiving footprint.

Is the Highgrove Ashbourne Ortho 2000 in a UK super king good for couples?
Yes, provided you both like a firm feel. With 90cm each for two people sharing, plus 2000 pocket springs that respond to each body separately, you'll feel very little of a partner's movement. Lightweight side sleepers may still find the firmness a little unyielding at the shoulder, whatever the size.
How much bigger is the super king Ashbourne Ortho 2000 than the UK king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and 45cm wider than the UK double. Both the UK super king and UK king are 200cm long. That extra width is the whole point of this size: it's what turns a shared bed into two undisturbed halves.
What room size do I need for the Ashbourne Ortho 2000 super king?
The mattress measures 180 x 200cm, and we suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling more comfortable. That leaves space to open drawers and walk around both sides. In a loft conversion, check the ceiling slope before deciding which wall takes the bed.
Does the super king size help with a restless partner?
More than any comfort layer can. Distance is the biggest factor in sleeping through a partner's tossing, and 90cm each is as much as a standard UK size offers. The pocket springs add to that by moving independently, so movement on one side isn't passed across the mattress.
Where can I buy the Ashbourne Ortho 2000 in a UK super king?
Stock and pricing change often at this size, so the most reliable answer is the live comparison table on this page, which is updated as retailers change their prices. Larger sizes can sell through faster than the UK double or UK king, so it's a size where checking current availability genuinely matters.
