Cover
A knitted, breathable cover, which means air can move through the surface rather than getting trapped. It helps keep you at an even temperature through the night.
Natural Silk Layer
Silk is soft and lightweight, adding a gentle, comfortable feel at the surface. It's a filling more commonly found in premium mattresses.
Cashmere
A rare filling that's softer and finer than wool. Its presence is usually a sign of a quality build.
Authentic Traceable British Wool
Wool from British Cheviot sheep, 100% traceable from farm to shop. It adds a natural bounce and helps regulate temperature, which is good news for warm sleepers.
Support System
2,000 pocket springs, each sewn into its own fabric pocket so they move completely independently. That means better pressure relief and less disturbance from a partner shifting in the night.
Layer details from mattressnextday.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 90cm each, every night: Two people sharing get 90cm each, which means you can both stretch out without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Distance plus 2,000 pocket springs: The springs move independently to soak up a partner's fidgeting, and at this width you're often too far away to notice anyway.
- Room for the whole household: When children wander in at 3am or a large dog treats the bed as its own, a super king means nobody ends up clinging to the edge.
- Wool keeps a big bed breathable: More mattress can mean more trapped warmth, but the wool and silk fillings let air move through, helping two sleepers stay at an even temperature.
- Fills a larger master properly: In a period property or generous new build master, a super king sits in proportion where a UK king can look slightly undersized.
This size suits you if...
A restless partner regularly wakes you and you've realised distance solves what no comfort layer can, children or pets routinely join you before morning and everyone still needs a fair share, or your master bedroom is large enough that a UK king would look lost against the wall.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for this size, or the bed would block a door swing or wardrobe. We'd recommend the UK king instead: you keep the 200cm length in a narrower footprint.

How big is the Somerset 2000 in a UK super king?
It measures 180 x 200cm, or 6ft x 6ft 6in. For two people sharing, that's 90cm of width each. The 200cm length also gives taller sleepers a little extra legroom compared with the 190cm of a UK double or single.
How much wider is the super king than the UK king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, with the same 200cm length. Spread across a shared bed, that extra width is the difference between feeling your partner turn over and barely registering it, especially with 2,000 pocket springs already limiting motion transfer.
What room size do I need for a super king Somerset 2000?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable if you want bedside tables on both sides and space to walk around the bed. In a loft conversion, check the sloped ceiling too, since it often decides which wall the bed can take.
Is the super king Somerset 2000 good for couples with children who join them at night?
It's one of the better cases for this size. With 180cm of width, a child climbing in at night doesn't push either adult to the edge, and the independent pocket springs mean their wriggling travels less through the mattress. Warm little bodies also benefit from the breathable wool and silk fillings.
What bedding fits the Somerset 2000 in a super king?
You'll need super king sheets and we'd suggest a 260 x 220cm duvet. One caveat: this mattress is 34cm deep, so look for fitted sheets with an extra-deep or deep-wall label. Standard super king fitted sheets can ping off a mattress this tall, which gets old quickly.
