Removable cover
The cover can be taken off for cleaning, although dry cleaning is recommended rather than a home wash. That is slightly less convenient, but it does help keep the sleep surface fresh.
Bamboo and memory foam comfort layers
Bamboo memory foam and high density memory foam adapt to your shape, which means pressure relief where you sink in most, at the shoulders and hips. The bamboo brings cooling breathability, useful if standard memory foam has felt warm to you before.
1000 mini springs
A layer of 3cm mini springs adds buoyancy, which means the mattress pushes back gently rather than letting you sink too deeply. It gives the foam layers a springier, more responsive feel.
1000 pocket spring unit
Steel springs sit in individual fabric casings and respond independently, so each one moves only where you press. In practice that means better contouring and less disturbance from a partner's movement.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm each for two people sharing: That is roughly a single bed's worth of space per person, so you can settle into your own position without negotiating over the middle.
- Pocket springs plus space equals fewer wake-ups: The 1000 pocket springs move only where pressed, which means an early-rising partner slipping out at 5am is far less likely to disturb you.
- 200cm of length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which is the difference between heels hanging off the end and lying flat comfortably if you're approaching six foot.
- Edge support you'll actually use at this width: The 12cm foam border holds firm right to the sides, so sleeping near the edge, as couples often do, doesn't mean rolling towards the floor.
- A substantial 26cm build at a generous size: The two-tier spring system keeps its medium firm, gently buoyant feel consistent across the full 150cm width, so neither side of the bed feels different.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want proper personal space, especially if one of you gets up hours before the other and you're tired of feeling every movement. It also suits you if either partner is tall, since the 200cm length outstretches a standard double. And if a dog has quietly claimed the foot of your bed each night, the extra width absorbs that too.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone. The UK double would suit you better in a tighter room; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Horizon Discovery 2000 UK king big enough for two adults?
Comfortably, yes. At 150cm wide it gives two people sharing 75cm each, enough to change position freely without meeting in the middle. Paired with the 1000 pocket springs, which respond only where you press, most couples find they disturb each other noticeably less than they did on a smaller mattress.
What room size do I need for the Horizon Discovery 2000 in a UK king?
We suggest a minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m. That leaves enough space to walk around the bed and open drawers or wardrobe doors without shuffling sideways. Measure your usable floor space after fitted furniture, since a room that looks generous on a plan can feel tight once wardrobes are in.
Should I choose the Horizon Discovery 2000 in a UK king or a UK double?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. Go for the UK king if you share the bed nightly and want more personal space, or if either of you is tall. Choose the UK double if your room is smaller; we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for that size.
Is the UK king Horizon Discovery 2000 long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm long it gives a fair bit of clearance for anyone around the six foot mark, and the length is often the real reason taller sleepers upgrade from a double. If you're well over six foot and want maximum stretch, the length won't change by sizing up: the UK king and UK super king are the same length.
How do I get the best price on the Horizon Discovery 2000 king size?
Horizon is a Mattress Online registered line, so choice is limited and shopping around won't turn up many alternatives. The simplest approach is to compare the retailer pricing shown on this page, which updates as prices change, and check whether the UK king is included in any current promotion before you buy.
