- Removable cover. The cover can be taken off for cleaning, although dry cleaning is recommended rather than a home wash. That is slightly less convenient, but it does help keep the sleep surface fresh.
- Bamboo and memory foam comfort layers. Bamboo memory foam and high density memory foam adapt to your shape, which means pressure relief where you sink in most, at the shoulders and hips. The bamboo brings cooling breathability, useful if standard memory foam has felt warm to you before.
- 1000 mini springs. A layer of 3cm mini springs adds buoyancy, which means the mattress pushes back gently rather than letting you sink too deeply. It gives the foam layers a springier, more responsive feel.
- 1000 pocket spring unit. Steel springs sit in individual fabric casings and respond independently, so each one moves only where you press. In practice that means better contouring and less disturbance from a partner's movement.

- Room to sprawl, solo: At 120cm wide, the UK small double gives a lone sleeper far more space than a single, which means you can change position freely without meeting the edge.
- Fits compact rooms: We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m, so this size slots into box rooms and studio flats where a wider bed would block the door.
- Edge support matters more at 4ft: The 12cm foam border supports the full sleeping surface, useful on a narrower mattress where you are more likely to sleep close to the side.
- Quiet nights for occasional sharing: The 1000 pocket springs move independently, which means a guest turning over on this shared-occasionally size is less likely to wake the person beside them.
- Easy to dress: 4ft is a standard UK size, so small double fitted sheets are simple to find and a regular double duvet drapes generously over it.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and have outgrown a single but your room cannot take a full double, you're furnishing a guest room where couples stay for the odd weekend rather than every night, or you're kitting out a teenager's bedroom and need to keep floor space for a desk and wardrobe.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, or you're a taller sleeper who wants more length. We'd recommend the Horizon Discovery 2000 in a UK double instead, which is 15cm wider at the same length; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

What size is the Horizon Discovery 2000 in a UK small double?
It measures 120 x 190cm, which is 4ft x 6ft 3in. That is the standard UK small double footprint, so any 4ft frame or divan base will take it, and small double fitted sheets fit without bunching.
What room size do I need for the Horizon Discovery 2000 UK small double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m. That leaves enough space to walk around the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe comfortably. In a box room or loft conversion, measure where the door swings before you buy, because at 4ft wide this size often decides whether it clears.
Can two people share the Horizon Discovery 2000 UK small double?
For occasional nights, yes, which makes it a sensible guest room choice, and the 1000 independent pocket springs keep one person's movement from travelling across to the other. For couples sharing every night, 120cm is a squeeze, and we'd suggest the UK double, which is 15cm wider at the same length.
Is the UK small double worth it over the single for this mattress?
If your room can take it, usually yes. The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single at the same length, which is the difference between sleeping in one fixed position and being able to spread out. For a teenager or a solo adult, that extra width tends to pay off nightly.
Is the Horizon Discovery 2000 small double long enough for a tall sleeper?
At 190cm long it suits most adults, but if you're around 6ft or taller you may want more legroom. The Horizon Discovery 2000 also comes in a UK king, which is 10cm longer and 30cm wider than the UK small double; we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m for that size.
