Cover
A 100% cotton ticking cover. Cotton is naturally breathable, which means less clamminess through the night.
eOlusTM fibre
An innovative fibre layer that gives foam-like comfort without retaining heat or moisture. In practice, you get the cushioning of foam with less of the warmth.
Polywool
Polywool blends the breathability of wool with the durability of polyester. It's a practical middle ground that should hold its shape well over time.
Dual density layers
Sustainable recycled fibres that add resilience and support. These help the mattress keep its firm, stable feel.
Traceable wool
Wool sourced from Woolkeepers® farms, naturally breathable and temperature-regulating. It helps keep you warm in winter and cooler in summer.
ReActive™ 7-turn pocket springs
Pocket springs with a 7-turn design that promote spinal alignment and relieve pressure. Each spring moves independently, which means support that follows your body rather than pushing back as one flat surface.

- A shared size that fits real rooms: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double leaves space for a wardrobe and drawers where a UK king would crowd the room.
- Firm support for two: The ReActive 7-turn pocket springs move independently, which means one of you turning over disturbs the other less than a single connected surface would.
- Cooler when sharing: Two people warm a bed quickly, so the traceable Woolkeepers wool and 100% cotton cover help both sleepers stay less clammy through the night.
- Room for bedside tables: In a bedroom around 3m x 3m, a UK double usually leaves enough clearance for tables on both sides, which the UK king often doesn't.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet are stocked everywhere, useful if you're furnishing a whole home and spreading the budget.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the classic couples' size, your bedroom is a typical UK size where a UK king would leave little walking space, or you sleep alone and want room to stretch out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, provided they're comfortable on an extra firm feel.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space and your room measures at least 2.7m x 2.9m. In that case we'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double.

Is the Hypnos Bespoke Amethyst double big enough for two adults?
It works for most couples: the UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing. On an extra firm mattress you tend to sleep on the surface rather than sinking into a settled spot, so restless sleepers may notice the width more. If either of you spreads out, the UK king is 15cm wider.
What room size do I need for the Bespoke Amethyst in a UK double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows bedside tables on both sides and space to open wardrobe doors. This is our guidance rather than Hypnos's, so measure your own room, including radiators and door swings, before you commit.
Will a double Hypnos mattress fit up the stairs in an older house?
A hybrid with pocket springs can't be rolled or folded, so the 135 x 190cm double arrives at full size and needs to turn any stairs and landings as it is. In older terraces with tight turns, measure the awkward points first. The double is easier to manoeuvre than the UK king or UK super king.
Should I choose the Bespoke Amethyst in a double or a king?
Go by your room and how you sleep. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, and it suits bedrooms where we'd say a king dominates. If you're both over 6ft or you value personal space, the extra width of the UK king is usually the better buy, provided your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
Is the double a good size for a guest room?
Yes, if your guests are couples and your spare room meets our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum. One caution: this mattress is extra firm, which some visitors will find hard on shoulders and hips. For a guest bed that mainly hosts one person, the UK small double is 15cm narrower and the same length, freeing floor space.
