Woolkeepers® wool
Traceable wool from Woolkeepers® farms sits at the top. It's naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, which means it helps keep you comfortable through the night.
Polywool
Polywool blends the breathability of wool with the durability of polyester. That mix should help the comfort layers hold their feel over time.
Dual density layers
Sustainable recycled fibres provide resilience and support. They form a stable base for the softer fillings above.
eOlusTM fibre
This fibre layer gives a foam-like comfort feel without retaining heat or moisture. If you're a hot sleeper, that's a genuine advantage over memory foam.
ReActive™ 7-turn pocket springs
The 1,200 pocket springs promote spinal alignment and relieve pressure. Each responds independently, which means less disturbance from a partner moving.
Cover
The mattress is finished in 100% cotton ticking. Cotton is soft and breathable against bedding.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Real space for two: The UK king is 15cm wider than the UK double, which means you each get room to shift position without waking the other.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a relief if either of you is approaching six foot.
- Less partner disturbance: The 1,200 ReActive 7-turn pocket springs respond independently, so an early alarm on one side travels less across the wider surface.
- Two halves, easier delivery: The zip and link design splits the UK king into two sections, which makes narrow staircases and tight landings far less of a battle.
- Breathable for shared beds: Two bodies generate more heat than one, and the wool and cotton layers vent it better than foam-heavy hybrids tend to.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, you or your partner keep different hours and want movement to go unnoticed, or one of you is tall enough that a 190cm mattress leaves feet at the edge. It also suits couples who want the zip and link option of separating the two halves later.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum, or you want even more space each. This mattress isn't made below UK king, and for more width we'd recommend the UK super king, allowing at least 3m x 2.9m.

Is the Hypnos Bespoke Amethyst in a UK king big enough for a couple?
Yes, comfortably for most. At 150 x 200cm you get 75cm each for two people sharing, and the pocket springs respond independently, so one person turning over disturbs the other less. Because the feel is on the firmer side, that extra width is welcome: firm surfaces telegraph less movement, but you still appreciate room to spread out.
Does the UK king zip and link come in two halves?
It does. The zip and link construction means the UK king arrives as two sections that join with a zip, which makes it much easier to get up awkward staircases than a one-piece king. Once linked, it sleeps as a single surface, and you can unzip the halves later if you ever want to separate the bases.
What room size do I need for this mattress in a UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, which leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open drawers. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear once fitted wardrobes go in, so measure the usable floor space rather than the room itself before committing.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
For most people, yes. The UK king is 200cm long, 10cm longer than the UK double, so a sleeper around six foot no longer has feet hanging near the edge. If you're well over six foot and want more width too, the UK super king in this mattress is the same length but 30cm wider.
Should I choose the UK king or the UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king suits most couples: proper space each without demanding a huge room. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, worth it if a dog routinely claims part of the bed or you're propping pillows through pregnancy, but allow at least 3m x 2.9m of room.
