Layer Details
- Pillow top. A luxurious top layer made of plush Solotex, which means a slightly softer, cushioned surface before you reach the firm support below.
- Pillow top fillings. Solotex and Red Tractor-assured wool. Wool helps regulate temperature, so it should feel a little less clammy than synthetic-only comfort layers.
- Mattress fillings. Solotex, Red Tractor-assured wool, dual density layers, polycotton, cotton, hemp and flax. That mix of natural fibres gives the mattress its depth and breathability.
- Springs. ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs, 1,600 of them in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which promotes spinal alignment and relieves pressure.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm each for two people sharing: The UK king gives 75cm each for two people sharing, which means neither of you ends up clinging to an edge on a firm surface with little give.
- 1,600 pocket springs in this size: The king carries 1,600 ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs, and because each moves independently, a partner leaving hours before you is far less likely to wake you.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a genuine relief if one of you is approaching or over six foot.
- Firm support across a wider surface: A firm mattress rewards space: with 15cm more width than the UK double, you can change position freely rather than disturbing each other on a taut surface.
- Natural fillings, king-sized breathability: Wool, cotton, hemp and flax run through the fillings, which means the larger surface stays breathable rather than clammy when two of you share it.
- Room for the dog too: If a dog on the bed is part of the routine, the extra width over a double means it can take its usual share without pushing you off yours.
This size suits you if...
You share every night and a double has started to feel cramped, particularly on a firm mattress where you notice each other's movements more. It also suits couples on mismatched schedules, since 1,600 independent pocket springs and 75cm each for two people sharing make early alarms easier to sleep through, and anyone tall enough to appreciate the 200cm length.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m, or you sleep alone and don't need the width. Hypnos lists this mattress in the UK king only, so a smaller room may point you to a different mattress altogether.

How many springs does the Hypnos Bespoke Pearl Pillowtop have in a UK king?
The UK king contains 1,600 ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs, and that count is specific to this size. Each spring compresses independently, which is why one partner shifting or getting up tends not to travel across the mattress to the other side. On a firm mattress that isolation matters, since firmer surfaces transmit movement more readily.
Will a UK king Hypnos Bespoke Pearl fit my bedroom?
The mattress measures 150 x 200cm, and we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m so you can walk round the bed and open drawers. Be careful with new build master bedrooms: they often look generous empty, then feel tight once fitted wardrobes go in, so measure the finished floor space rather than the plan.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, the UK king gives most tall sleepers comfortable clearance, and it's 10cm longer than a UK double or single. If one of you currently sleeps diagonally or with feet at the edge, the extra length is often a bigger upgrade than the width. The firm support runs edge to edge of that 200cm.
Is a UK king big enough for a couple on this firm a mattress?
Yes, and arguably firmness makes the size more important. You get 75cm each for two people sharing, which is 15cm more width than a UK double offers between you. Because a firm surface lets you feel a partner's movement more than a soft one, that extra separation, plus the pocket springs, keeps disturbance down.
What bed frame do I need for this mattress in a UK king?
Any standard UK king frame or divan measuring 150 x 200cm will fit. Check the mattress depth against your frame though: at 32cm this is a deep mattress, so a shallow-sided frame will leave much of it sitting proud, and you'll want deep-pocket king fitted sheets rather than standard ones.
