Layer Details
- eOlus™ and Solotex™. Two layers of synthetic fibres sit at the top: plush eOlus™ fibres made from recycled plastic bottles add a firmer feel and extra support, while Solotex™ provides a cushioning comfort layer. Both are breathable and durable, which means the surface should hold its feel over time.
- Wool. Two fleeces of natural wool sit above the latex. Wool is naturally temperature-regulating and lets air flow freely, which means less overheating on warm nights.
- Latex. The core is natural Talalay latex, an extremely springy material that gives the mattress its bouncy feel. That resilience is good for relieving built-up pressure, particularly around hips and shoulders.
- ReActivePro™ 6-turn pocket springs. At the centre are 1200 ReActivePro™ 6-turn pocket springs that mould to your shape for personalised support. The 6-turn design responds quickly and bounces back, which means support follows you as you move.

- Fits compact rooms: At 90cm wide it leaves usable floor space in a small bedroom, and we suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m around it.
- Grows with a teenager: The 1200 pocket springs adjust to a changing body shape, so the support keeps pace as a child becomes a teen.
- Easy to turn over on: Talalay latex is naturally springy, which means moving around on a narrower surface feels effortless rather than effortful.
- Cool for warm sleepers: Two fleeces of wool sit above the latex and let air move freely, useful in a loft room or a small space that heats up.
- Guest room ready: A medium firm feel is a sensible middle ground for a spare bed, comfortable for most visitors without committing to one extreme.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and your room can't take anything wider than 3ft, or you're buying a long-term mattress for a child or teenager and want natural materials that will last them years. It also suits a guest room or a spare room doubling as an office, where the bed needs to stay out of the way but still sleep visitors well.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who feels hemmed in at 90cm wide and your room has space to spare. The UK double is 45cm wider and the same length; we'd recommend it instead, allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space.

Will the Hypnos Witney Latex Supreme UK single fit a bunk bed?
Be careful here. The mattress is 28cm deep, and most bunk, cabin and mid sleeper frames are designed for shallower mattresses so the guard rail still sits safely above the surface. Check your frame's maximum mattress depth before buying; on many raised frames this one will sit too high.
Is the UK single Hypnos Witney big enough for a tall teenager?
It's 190cm long, which is 6ft 3in, so most teenagers have room to spare. Width is the more common squeeze: at 90cm it's fine for one person but restless sleepers who sprawl may want more. The UK king is 10cm longer if height genuinely becomes an issue, though it needs a much bigger room.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space. That leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe. In a child's room competing with a desk and toy storage, the single's 90cm width is precisely what keeps the rest of the room workable.
Is this mattress worth buying in a single for a child?
It's a lot of mattress for a child's room, but the case is longevity: natural latex and wool are durable, and the 1200 pocket springs adapt as a child grows, so one purchase can carry them from primary school into their teens rather than being replaced partway.
How much smaller is the UK single than the UK double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and the two are exactly the same length at 190cm. So sizing up buys width, and only width. If two beds need to share a guest room with a walkway between them, two singles will fit where one double plus a second bed would not.
