- Cover. A soft-touch cotton-viscose fabric infused with M-Pure, a 100% natural, plant-based treatment. It's naturally fire resistant, which means no added chemical fire retardants in the cover.
- Comfort fillings. Luxury Hampshire fleece wool blended with layers of English cotton, traditionally hand-tufted. Wool and cotton breathe well, so this layer helps keep you at a steadier temperature through the night.
- Mini pocket springs. Small, individually cased springs sit near the surface to add comfort and soothing pressure relief. They respond to your shape more precisely than fillings alone would.
- Pocket spring support system. 4000 pocket springs zoned in 7 areas, an arrangement Millbrook calls ErgoZone 7. Each spring is individually encased and adapts to your movement, which means support that follows your body rather than the whole bed dipping.
- Edge support. Metal rods sit above and below the spring unit, held in place with butterfly clips. This reinforces the edges, so you can use the full width of the mattress without the sides sagging.

- A small footprint for busy rooms: At 3ft wide, it leaves space for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a child's room without the bed dominating.
- Every centimetre is usable: Metal edge rods reinforce the sides, which means a restless sleeper can drift right to the edge of the 90cm width without rolling off.
- Steady support through the teenage years: The medium firm feel and seven-zone springs give growing backs even support, although lighter children may find it a little solid at first.
- Wool that suits a warm bedroom: Hampshire fleece wool and English cotton breathe far better than foam, useful in a loft room or small space that traps heat.
- The most manageable size of a heavy mattress: This is a weighty, traditionally built mattress, but the UK single is the easiest version to rotate, and the turning handles help.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for one sleeper, a child moving up from a first bed, a teenager who needs proper support, or an adult in a compact room. It also makes sense for a spare room that doubles as an office, where a 90cm width keeps a desk workable, or a student flat where the frame is provided and the mattress isn't.
Consider another size if...
An adult sleeper wants more than 90cm to stretch out in, or the room can take something wider. We'd recommend the UK small double instead: it's 30cm wider, the same length, and needs a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m.

How big is the Millbrook Wool Luxury 4000 in a UK single?
The UK single measures 90 x 190cm, which is 3ft x 6ft 3in. It's the standard one-person size, so standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit. We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space so you can walk round the bed and open drawers.
Is the Millbrook Wool Luxury 4000 UK single a good choice for a child?
It works well for older children and teenagers who sleep on their back or front, as the medium firm feel gives even, steady support while they grow. Some owners find it firmer than expected, so a young child used to a soft surface may need a settling-in period. The natural wool and cotton fillings are a bonus if they sleep warm.
Will the UK single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The 90 x 190cm footprint matches standard UK single bunk and mid sleeper frames. The catch is depth: at 28cm this is a tall mattress, and many raised frames set a maximum depth so the guard rail still does its job. Check your frame's stated limit before buying, as this mattress will exceed some of them.
Should I buy the UK single or size up to the UK small double?
For a child or a compact spare room, the UK single is the practical choice and the cheapest to buy bedding for. If an adult will sleep on it every night and the room allows, the UK small double gives 30cm more width at the same length, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m of floor space for it.
Is the UK single Millbrook Wool Luxury 4000 easy to move upstairs?
Easier than the larger sizes, but this is still a dense, traditionally built pocket spring mattress with 4000 springs and natural fillings, so expect real weight. It won't bend round tight corners the way a rolled foam mattress does. The turning handles help with rotation once it's in place, though moving it up a loft staircase is a two-person job.
