- Memory foam. A body-conforming memory foam top layer, which means the surface moulds gently to your shape and eases pressure at the shoulders and hips. It gives the mattress its cushioned, pillow-top feel.
- Microsprings. A layer of 2,000 microsprings sits beneath the foam for finely tuned, body-responsive support. These small springs react to movement more quickly than foam, so the mattress feels less sink-in than an all-foam design.
- Eco foam. A high-density eco foam layer aimed at targeted pressure relief. It acts as a transition between the soft surface and the main springs below.
- Insulating fillings. Layers of insulating fillings encase the mattress for stronger edge support. In practice, that means a firmer perimeter when you sit on the side or sleep near the edge.
- Pocket springs. The Sleep Sound Pocket+ system uses individually nested pocket springs, 1,000 of them in the king size, for head-to-toe support. Because each spring moves independently, you're less likely to feel a partner shifting in the night.

- Room to spread out alone: The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which means you can sleep on your side with your knees drawn up and still not hang off the edge.
- Firmer edges on a narrower bed: Insulating fillings firm up the perimeter, so the outer strip of this 120cm width stays usable rather than feeling like a slope you roll away from.
- Keeps small rooms workable: Being 15cm narrower than the UK double, the UK small double can leave enough clearance for a door to swing open or a wardrobe drawer to pull out.
- Calmer for occasional sharing: Individually nested pocket springs move independently, which helps when a partner stays over and every turn happens within a narrower width.
- Standard 4ft sizing: The UK small double is a common UK width, so a 4ft bed frame is easy to find, and the 24cm depth suits standard fitted sheets.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone, have outgrown a UK single and want a medium hybrid that gives you space to sprawl, or your bedroom is compact enough that a UK double would leave you edging round the bed, or the bed is for a guest room where couples stay a night or two rather than every week.
Consider another size if...
You share with a partner every night and both like room to move. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives 67.5cm each; we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.

Is the Sleep Sound Pocket 3000 small double big enough for a teenager?
For most teenagers who have outgrown a UK single, yes. The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single at the same length, so a growing teenager gains real sideways room without losing much floor space. The medium feel suits most back and side sleepers, although a heavier teenager who prefers a firm bed may find it a little forgiving.
What size room do I need for a UK small double Sleep Sound Pocket 3000?
We suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m for a UK small double. That leaves space to walk past the bed and open a door. If your room is smaller than that, the UK single is the safer option, and we suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m for the UK single.
Sleep Sound Pocket 3000 UK small double or UK double for a couple?
For occasional stays, the UK small double is fine, and the pocket springs help limit disturbance when one of you turns. For sharing every night, the UK double is the better choice. It is 15cm wider and gives 67.5cm each, which most couples will notice by the end of the first week.
Will a small double hybrid mattress fit a box room or loft conversion?
It often will, and the UK small double is usually the widest bed that keeps a box room usable. Measure the space the door needs to swing open first, then check against our suggested minimum of 2.4m x 2.8m. In a loft conversion, also look at where the roof slopes down, because that decides where you can stand beside the bed.
Is a UK small double better than a UK single for one adult?
Usually, if the room allows it. A UK small double is 30cm wider than a UK single, so restless sleepers and anyone who shares with a dog get far more room. The firmer edges on this mattress mean you can use that extra width properly. Choose the UK single only if your floor space falls short of 2.4m x 2.8m.
