Layer Details
- Cool-touch top panel. A cool-touch knitted cover proven to reduce body temperature. This is the first thing you feel, and it helps the bed start cool rather than warming up under you.
- Pillow top. A built-in pillow top filled with a soft comfort layer, a high-density support layer, double-depth memory foam and mini pocket springs. It gives that sink-in plushness without the faff of a separate topper.
- Dreamzone gel foam. Profiled, body-contouring gel foam that relieves pressure and draws heat away from the body. In practice this cradles your hips and shoulders while keeping things cooler than standard memory foam.
- Support layer. A high-density support layer beneath the comfort materials. This stops you sinking too far and keeps your spine in a more neutral position.
- Springs. Traditional pocket springs and mini springs that adjust independently for optimal support. Each spring responds to your body alone, which means less motion transfer across the bed.

- Room for two, room to walk: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double gives two people a shared bed while still leaving a path around it in a typical master bedroom or second bedroom.
- Less disturbance at close quarters: Sharing at 67.5cm each means you sleep nearer your partner, so the independently moving pocket and mini springs help keep their tossing and turning on their side.
- Cooler when sleeping close: Two bodies on a UK double generate shared warmth, and the cool-touch knitted cover and gel foam are designed to draw heat away rather than trap it.
- Fits with bedside tables: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, with around 3m x 3m giving comfortable space for a table on each side.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet are sold almost everywhere, although the 31cm depth means you'll want deep fitted sheets.
This size suits you if...
You share a bed every night in a standard UK bedroom and want to keep space for a wardrobe and drawers, or you're kitting out a guest room where visiting couples need a comfortable shared bed, or you sleep alone and like room to stretch out with a cat or dog curled in one corner.
Consider another size if...
You're both broad-shouldered or restless sleepers and 67.5cm each feels cramped. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which gives 7.5cm more each; we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king.

Will a SensaGel 6000 UK double fit my bedroom with bedside tables?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double. That leaves room to get in and out, but if you want a bedside table on each side plus a wardrobe, around 3m x 3m is more comfortable. Measure door swing and drawer clearance too, since the bed itself is 135 x 190cm.
Is the SensaGel 6000 UK double wide enough for two hot sleepers?
A UK double gives 67.5cm each, so you sleep closer together than on a UK king, which gives 7.5cm more each. Closer quarters mean more shared warmth. The cool-touch cover and heat-drawing gel foam help, but if you both run very hot, the extra width of the UK king may suit you better.
Is the SensaGel 6000 UK double long enough for a tall partner?
The UK double is 190cm long, which is 6ft 3in. That suits most adults, but if either of you is tall enough for feet to reach the end, the UK king is 10cm longer as well as 15cm wider, so it solves both length and width at once.
How much wider is the SensaGel 6000 UK double than the UK small double?
The UK double is 15cm wider than the UK small double, and both are the same length. For couples, those extra centimetres make sharing noticeably easier. The UK small double needs less floor space, though: we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double, compared with 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.
Is a SensaGel 6000 UK double a good choice for a guest room?
For a guest room that hosts visiting couples, a UK double gives them a proper shared bed at 67.5cm each without filling a smaller spare room. The medium feel suits a wide range of sleepers, which helps when you don't know who's staying, although guests who prefer a firm bed may find the pillow top too soft.
