- A full 90cm each: Two sharers get 90cm apiece, which means a partner who turns over all night is much less likely to wake you.
- More room than a king: The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king at the same length, giving each sleeper 15cm more, enough to stop elbows meeting mid-turn.
- Space for extra bodies: When a small child or a large dog climbs in as a matter of routine, the UK super king leaves the two adults a proper share rather than a sliver.
- In proportion with a large room: In a period property or generous master bedroom where a UK king can look a little undersized, the UK super king fills the space more naturally.
- Easier to get upstairs: This is a mattress in a box, and at this width that makes tight landing turns far more manageable than carrying a flat mattress of the same size.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed with a partner whose tossing and turning keeps waking you, a child or a large dog regularly ends up between you, and your bedroom comfortably clears 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than 3m x 2.9m, or you need the floor space for wardrobes and bedside tables. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the SleepSoul Heaven Gel Pocket 3000 super king big enough for two adults and a child?
For a child who arrives overnight, yes, for most families. Two adults get 90cm each on the UK super king, so a small child fitting in between still leaves both of you usable space. On the UK king that falls to 75cm each, which is where someone usually ends up on the edge.
Super king or king for a restless partner?
If a partner's movement is the thing waking you, distance helps more than anything else, and the UK super king gives you 15cm more each than the UK king. Choose the UK king only if your room can't fit the UK super king, as it needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m against 3m x 2.9m.
Will a UK super king fit in a loft conversion bedroom?
Check the floor plan first. We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king, and in a loft conversion the sloped ceiling usually decides which wall the headboard can go against. Measure the full-height floor area rather than the total, as you need to sit up and get in and out easily.
Can I fit bedside tables either side of a super king?
Only in a bigger room. At our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m the UK super king fits, although space around it gets tight. We'd say around 3.5m x 3.2m feels right, which leaves room for bedside tables on both sides and a clear walkway. Also check that the door doesn't swing into the bed.
Is a super king mattress big enough to share with a large dog?
It's the size we'd suggest if a large dog sleeps on the bed every night. Each adult gets 90cm on the UK super king, so a dog curled at the foot or along one side takes space without forcing anyone out. On a UK double you'd have 22.5cm less each, which disappears quickly.
