Key benefits
- Leaves floor space for everything else: At 90cm wide, a UK single leaves room beside the bed for a desk or wardrobe in a child's bedroom where furniture is competing for every bit of wall.
- A modest room requirement: We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which means it can sit in a box room or study that couldn't take a larger bed.
- Temperature-regulating fillings for one: British wool and bamboo are described as helping regulate temperature, which suits a teenager or solo adult who tends to wake up warm.
- Cushioning at the surface: The pillow top sits over individually wrapped pocket springs, giving a softer first feel for anyone who likes to sink in slightly rather than lie on top.
- Easy to pair for guests: Two UK singles side by side give guests a bed each, which is handy when a spare room has to host friends as often as couples.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager who needs their own bed with room left over for a desk, you sleep alone in a compact room or loft conversion, or you're kitting out a spare room that also works as an office.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who sprawls, or you sometimes share the bed. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which is 30cm wider; we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double.

FAQ's
Will the Sophie Conran Aura UK single fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
Check carefully before ordering. The mattress is 32cm deep, and raised frames such as bunks, cabin beds and mid sleepers usually set a maximum mattress depth so the guard rail stays effective. Look up the limit in your frame maker's instructions and compare it with that 32cm figure. If the frame's limit is lower, choose a shallower mattress for that bed.
What size room do I need for a UK single Sophie Conran Aura?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves room to walk around the bed and open drawers in a typical child's room or study. For two singles in a shared room, measure for both beds plus a clear walkway between them.
Is the Sophie Conran Aura in a UK single big enough for an adult?
For a single adult who sleeps fairly still, yes. A UK single is 90 x 190cm, the standard UK one-person size. If you like to spread out or you're on the tall side, it can feel snug. The UK small double gives you 30cm more width at the same length.
What bedding do I need for a UK single Aura mattress?
Standard single sheets and a single duvet, which measures 135 x 200cm, will fit. Single bedding is among the most widely available sizes, so replacements are easy to find. Because the mattress is 32cm deep with a pillow top, look for fitted sheets with deep pockets so the corners stay put.
Is a UK single Aura a good choice for a loft conversion with a sloping ceiling?
It can be. The narrow 90cm footprint means you can tuck the bed lengthways under the slope and keep the full-height part of the room clear. Do allow for the 32cm depth plus your frame, as a taller bed brings you closer to the ceiling when you sit up.
