- QuickRefresh™ cover. A cover with SmartCool™ technology that unzips all the way round and can be washed at 60°C. That makes it far easier to keep fresh than most mattress covers, which typically can't be removed at all.
- TEMPUR® Advanced Material. Sumptuously layered with TEMPUR® Advanced Material for what the brand calls its best-ever pressure relief. This slow-response foam contours closely to your body, which means pressure points at the hips and shoulders get real relief.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Full pressure relief for one: The TEMPUR® Advanced Material contours to hips and shoulders across the whole 90cm width, so a solo sleeper gets the complete effect with no wasted mattress.
- A serious upgrade for a small room: At 3ft x 6ft 3in the footprint stays compact, which means you can have premium slow-response foam in a box room or loft conversion without sacrificing floor space.
- Firm support for growing teens: The extra firm build keeps a developing spine well aligned, and the surface softens slightly with body heat so it never feels like sleeping on a board.
- Washable cover, handy for guest use: The QuickRefresh™ cover unzips fully and washes at 60°C, so a spare room single can be freshened properly between visits rather than aired and hoped for.
- Sized for standard bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, the cheapest and most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want proper firm support with deep pressure relief in a compact footprint, you're buying for a teenager who has outgrown a bouncier children's mattress, or you're furnishing a spare room to a genuinely comfortable standard rather than making do with a budget guest bed.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed even occasionally, or you're a restless solo sleeper who sprawls; 90cm is snug for that. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which gives you extra width while still suiting one person's room.

Will the UK single Tempur Pro Luxe SmartCool fit a bunk bed?
Be careful here. The width is right at 90 x 190cm, but this mattress is 30cm deep, and bunk, cabin and mid-sleeper frames usually specify a much shallower maximum so the guard rail still sits above the sleeping surface. Check your frame's stated maximum depth before buying; for many raised frames this will be too tall.
Is a UK single Tempur Pro Luxe big enough for an adult?
For one adult sleeping alone, yes. At 90 x 190cm, or 3ft x 6ft 3in, it's the standard UK one-person size, and the slow-response foam limits how much you shift about anyway. Taller adults should note the 190cm length; if you spread out in your sleep, the UK small double gives you noticeably more room.
How much narrower is a UK single than a UK double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, which is a substantial difference. If you're weighing the two for a solo sleeper, the UK single suits smaller rooms and lone sleepers who stay fairly still, while the extra width of the UK double is really only needed if you share or sprawl.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which is our own guidance rather than Tempur's. That leaves room to walk alongside the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe. In a child's room competing with a desk and toy storage, or a spare room doubling as an office, the single's 90cm width is usually the practical ceiling.
Is this a good single mattress for a child?
For older children and teenagers, potentially: the firm support suits growing bodies and the washable cover is practical. Two caveats. It will feel firmer still when new, as the temperature-sensitive foam takes time to soften, and it's an expensive mattress for a child to outgrow. For younger kids, a simpler single is usually the sensible choice.
