- Pocket springs. Individually wrapped steel springs, 498 per square metre, which means each one moves on its own. You'll feel support that follows your shape and less disturbance when a partner turns over.
- Comfort zones. Zoned areas within the spring unit give slightly different support along the length of the mattress. In practice, your shoulders and hips can sink a touch more while your back stays supported.
- Standard foam. A layer of polyurethane foam at 33 kg/m3, a solid density for durability. It cushions the springs so you don't feel them directly.
- Memory foam. Memory foam moulds to your body under warmth and pressure. It softens the firm surface a little at pressure points like hips and shoulders.
- Stiff felt. A firm felt layer that insulates the comfort layers from the springs. It helps the mattress keep its structure over time.

- More room each: At 75cm per sleeper, you gain 7.5cm each over a UK double, a small but noticeable buffer between your shoulder and your partner's.
- Less disturbance from a partner: The 498 springs per square metre move independently, and the extra width means an early riser can slip out with less chance of waking the other person.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than a UK double, so someone around six foot can stretch out without their feet reaching the edge.
- Space to shift position: If you need to prop pillows or change position often during pregnancy, the wider surface gives you room to adjust without crowding your partner.
- Fits more rooms than a super king: We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king, compared with 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double has started to feel cramped, or one of you is tall enough that your feet sit close to the end. It also suits you if you and your partner keep different hours and would like a little more distance so the early riser disturbs the other less.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m once furniture is in. We'd recommend the UK double instead, and we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for that size.

Is the Ikea Vagstranda UK king big enough for two people?
For most couples, yes. The UK king gives you 75cm each, which is 7.5cm more per person than the UK double. If you both sprawl or share the bed with a dog, the UK super king gives 90cm each, although it needs a larger room.
Will a Vagstranda UK king stop my partner waking me up?
It should help. The individually wrapped springs move on their own, so a partner turning over sends less movement across the mattress. The extra 7.5cm each over a UK double also puts slightly more distance between you, which helps if one of you gets up hours before the other.
Is the Ikea Vagstranda UK king long enough for tall people?
The UK king is 200cm long, or 6ft 6in, which is 10cm longer than a UK double. For a partner around six foot, that extra length is often the bigger improvement. The UK super king is the same length, so going up a size adds width but no length.
Should I get the Vagstranda in a UK king or a UK super king?
Choose the UK king if your room is tight. We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it, against 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king. The UK super king gives you 15cm more each, which matters most if a child or pet regularly joins you.
Will a Vagstranda UK king fit in a new build bedroom?
New build master bedrooms can feel smaller once fitted wardrobes are in, so measure the clear floor space rather than the room itself. We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king. If you fall short, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
