Layer Details
- Bonded British fleece wool and cotton. A bonded layer of British fleece wool and cotton sits at the top. Bonding keeps the fillings in place, which means the surface stays smoother for longer.
- British fleece wool. A layer of pure British fleece wool. Wool breathes and wicks moisture, so the sleeping surface feels drier through the night.
- Bamboo. A bamboo layer chosen for its temperature-regulating and hypoallergenic properties. A sensible inclusion if you sleep hot or have sensitive skin.
- Layered British fleece wool and cotton. Further layered wool and cotton cushioning between you and the springs. This softens the transition onto the firm spring unit slightly, without undermining the overall firm feel.
- Hand-nested calico pocket springs. 1,326 vanadium steel pocket springs, each in its own calico pocket and hand-nested in a single layer. Hand-nesting means the springs are stitched to one another, giving stable, independent support across the whole surface.
Layer details from vispring.com product page, September 2026.
- Room of your own: Each sleeper gets 75cm, which is 7.5cm more than a UK double gives, enough to turn over without landing in your partner's space.
- Fewer early-morning wake-ups: The 1,326 independently moving springs, plus the extra width, mean one partner getting up at dawn is far less likely to disturb the other.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, the UK king adds 10cm over a UK double, so a tall partner can stretch out fully on a firm, even surface.
- A good match for a bedstead: The slim 21cm profile, plus around 6cm of doming, sits neatly inside a 5ft x 6ft 6in bedstead frame rather than towering over it.
- Space without a super king room: You gain real personal space while needing less floor than a UK super king, which suits a main bedroom that already holds wardrobes.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and keep waking each other, perhaps because one of you rises hours before the other. It also fits if one partner is tall enough that a 190cm bed leaves their feet unsupported, and you both prefer a genuinely firm feel.
Consider another size if...
You mostly sleep alone, or your bedroom is smaller than our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m. We'd recommend the UK double instead, for which we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is a UK king Vispring Bedstead mattress long enough for a tall person?
The UK king is 200cm long, 10cm longer than a UK double. If one of you is tall, that extra length usually matters more than the width. Your heels and ankles stay on the firm spring surface rather than resting on the edge, and neither of you has to sleep at a diagonal.
Will I feel my partner move on a UK king pocket spring mattress?
Much less than on a narrower bed. The UK king gives you 75cm each, and the 1,326 springs move independently rather than rolling together, so movement stays mostly on your partner's side. A firm feel also means less sinking toward the middle. You may still feel a little disturbance when someone climbs in heavily.
Should I get the UK king or UK super king Vispring Bedstead Firm?
The UK super king gives you 90cm each, 15cm more per person than the UK king, at the same length. We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, against 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king. If your room is tight once furniture is in, the UK king is the more comfortable fit.
Is upgrading from a double to a UK king worth it for couples?
For most couples, yes. You each gain 7.5cm of width and share 10cm of extra length, and you feel that difference every night. If one of you gets up early or sleeps restlessly, the added space plus independent springs noticeably cuts down on waking each other.
What size bedstead fits a Vispring mattress in a king?
You need a frame built for a UK king at 150 x 200cm, which is 5ft x 6ft 6in. Check your bedstead's internal measurements rather than its outer size, because a mattress on a frame made for a UK double will not fit. Compare the retailers listed on this page for current options.
