- Ticking and tuft. High-quality ticking, hand tufted with felt washers. Tufting anchors the fillings in place, which means the surface stays even rather than shifting into lumps over the years.
- Natural fillings. Soft natural fillings include bonded British fleece wool and cotton, British fleece wool, and blended British fleece wool and cotton. Wool and cotton breathe well, so you're less likely to overheat than on foam.
- Springs. Two layers of Vispring's six-turn vanadium steel springs, hand-nested in calico pockets, with 1,558 springs in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means less disturbance when a partner shifts in the night.
- Borders. Borders are upholstered in protective wool with two rows of hand side stitching, horizontal handles and air vents. The side stitching firms up the edges, so you get usable support right to the sides of the bed.

- More room each: At 75cm per person, the UK king gives you 7.5cm more each than a UK double, which means fewer elbows and less negotiating over the middle.
- Length for tall sleepers: The 200cm length, or 6ft 6in, is 10cm longer than a UK double, so feet stay on the mattress rather than resting on the edge.
- Springs across the full width: The UK king holds 1,558 individually pocketed springs, which means a partner turning over on their side is less likely to jolt you awake on yours.
- Firm edges you can use: Hand side stitching keeps the borders supportive, so the outer part of each 75cm half feels like usable sleeping space rather than a sloping drop-off.
- A realistic fit for most master bedrooms: We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, a slightly smaller footprint than the UK super king needs.
This size suits you if...
You share a bed and wake each other up more than you would like, perhaps because one of you leaves for work long before the other. It also suits you if one partner is over six foot and a UK double leaves their feet hanging off the end.
Consider another size if...
You want a full 90cm each, or a dog regularly claims the middle of the bed. We'd recommend the UK super king instead, and suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m.

Is the Vispring Dartington UK king long enough if you're over six foot?
The UK king measures 200cm long, or 6ft 6in, which is 10cm longer than a UK double. For most people around or a little over six foot, that extra length means lying straight without your feet reaching the edge. The UK super king is the same length, so sizing up adds width, not length.
How much space does each person get on a Vispring Dartington UK king?
Two people sharing get 75cm each. That is 7.5cm more each than on a UK double, and 15cm less each than on the UK super king. Because the edges are hand stitched for support, you can sleep near the side of your half without feeling as though you are rolling off.
Will the Dartington UK king reduce disturbance from my partner?
It should help. The UK king uses 1,558 springs, each in its own calico pocket, so they respond to weight independently rather than moving as one sheet. Combined with 75cm each, a partner getting up early or shifting in the night is less likely to be felt on your side, although no mattress removes movement entirely.
What size bedroom do I need for a Vispring Dartington UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. New build master bedrooms can look generous on the plan but shrink once fitted wardrobes go in, so measure the floor space left over, including room to walk around the foot of the bed.
Should I get the Vispring Dartington in UK king or UK super king?
Choose the UK king if 75cm each is enough and your room fits our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m. The UK super king gives 90cm each, 15cm more per person, but we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for it. Both are 200cm long, so the decision comes down to width and floor space.
