- Ticking and tuft. High-quality ticking, hand tufted with felt washers. Tufting anchors the fillings in place, which means the surface stays even rather than shifting into lumps over the years.
- Natural fillings. Soft natural fillings include bonded British fleece wool and cotton, British fleece wool, and blended British fleece wool and cotton. Wool and cotton breathe well, so you're less likely to overheat than on foam.
- Springs. Two layers of Vispring's six-turn vanadium steel springs, hand-nested in calico pockets, with 1,558 springs in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means less disturbance when a partner shifts in the night.
- Borders. Borders are upholstered in protective wool with two rows of hand side stitching, horizontal handles and air vents. The side stitching firms up the edges, so you get usable support right to the sides of the bed.

- 90cm each for two: Sharing a UK super king gives each of you 90cm, which means a partner who turns constantly is far enough away that their movement rarely reaches your side.
- Independent springs across the full width: Each spring sits in its own calico pocket, so on a bed this wide one person shifting stays mostly on their half rather than rippling across the whole surface.
- Room for small visitors and pets: If children climb in after a bad dream or a large dog sleeps at your feet as routine, the extra width keeps everyone with a genuine share.
- Firm edges make the whole width usable: Two rows of hand side stitching firm up the borders, so the outer few centimetres of a super king still support you rather than feeling like wasted space.
- Proportion in a large room: In a period property or a big master bedroom a UK king can look a little lost, whereas a UK super king fills the room in proportion.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed with a partner whose tossing and turning wakes you, and you want 15cm more each than a UK king gives. It also suits you if children or a dog regularly end up in the bed, and your bedroom comfortably clears our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of 3m x 2.9m, or you sleep alone most nights. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which we suggest needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Vispring Dartington super king or king for a restless partner?
The UK king gives 75cm each for two sharing, while the UK super king gives 90cm each, so 15cm more per person. The pocket springs already limit movement, but physical distance helps more with a genuinely restless partner. If disturbed sleep is your main complaint and the room allows it, the UK super king is the better choice.
How much bigger is the Vispring Dartington super king than the king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length at 200cm. You gain width only, so the bed will not push further towards the door. It will reach further along the wall you place it against.
Does the Vispring Dartington super king have more springs than the king?
Vispring's published figure of 1,558 springs refers to the UK king. A wider mattress will carry more springs, but check the retailer's listing for the UK super king count rather than assuming a number. The spring type and the two-layer construction are the same in both sizes.
Can a family share a Vispring Dartington super king with children or a dog?
Yes, this is where the extra width helps most. A child between two adults or a large dog across the foot still leaves each adult usable space. The medium/firm feel and stitched edges mean nobody ends up sinking into a soft outer strip. Lightweight children may find the surface a little firm.
Will a Vispring Dartington super king fit a loft conversion bedroom?
Only if the room clears our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m on the floor where you can actually stand. In a sloped loft, the ceiling usually decides which wall takes the headboard, so measure there first. Check the stair turns and landing too, since the mattress arrives as one 180cm-wide piece.
