- Upholstery. Bonded and blended British fleece wool with cotton, encased in high-quality ticking, which means a breathable, temperature-regulating sleep surface with no synthetic foam. It is hand-tufted with felt washers, so the fillings stay anchored rather than migrating and lumping over time.
- Springs. A single layer of 1,558 hand-nested vanadium steel pocket springs in calico pockets, based on the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means the mattress contours to your shape and limits motion transfer between partners.
Layer details from vispring.com product page, September 2026.
- Room to lie how you like: With 90cm each for two people sharing, you can both sprawl, curl or starfish without meeting in the middle.
- Distance on top of spring isolation: The calico pocket springs already move independently, and the extra width puts more mattress between you, so a fidgety partner's turns rarely reach your side.
- Space when the household piles in: When a child wanders in or a large dog settles at the foot, everyone keeps a proper share rather than someone clinging to the edge.
- Cooler with more bodies in the bed: Wool and cotton let warmth escape rather than trapping it, which helps on nights when there are three of you, or two of you plus a dog.
- In proportion in a large room: In a high-ceilinged period bedroom or a generous master, a UK king can look slightly undersized, while the UK super king sits comfortably in the space.
This size suits you if...
You share with a genuinely restless partner and want real distance between you, or children and pets join you often enough that a UK king feels crowded, and your bedroom comfortably clears our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than our suggested 3m x 2.9m, or you mostly sleep alone. For couples in a tighter room, we'd recommend the UK king instead, which needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Should I get the Vispring Dartington in a UK king or UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king but the same length, and gives you 15cm more each when sharing. If width between you is the priority, size up. If your room is tight, the UK king needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m, against our 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king.
Is a Dartington UK super king big enough for two adults and a child?
For occasional night visits, yes. Two adults start with 90cm each, so a small child can slot in without anyone being pushed to the edge. The independent pocket springs also mean a wriggling child is less likely to jolt you awake. For nightly co-sleeping with an older child, you will still feel the squeeze a little.
How much more space does the Dartington super king give than a double?
The UK super king is 45cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. A UK double gives 67.5cm each for two sharing, so the UK super king gives 22.5cm more each. That gap is what turns a partner's restlessness from something you feel into something you mostly sleep through.
Will a UK super king Dartington suit a loft conversion bedroom?
It can, but the sloping ceiling usually decides which wall the headboard goes against, and that may leave less floor than the room's footprint suggests. Measure the usable space at full standing height, and make sure it still clears our suggested 3m x 2.9m. The mattress's slightly domed top also adds a little height to allow for.
What should I check before ordering a Vispring Dartington UK super king?
Measure more than the bedroom. Check that doors swing clear once the bed is in place, and that tight landing turns will let a 180cm-wide mattress through. Budget for super king sheets and a 260 x 220cm duvet too, as bedding at this size costs more than many buyers expect.
