- Ticking. The outer cover is made from soft to the touch, finest quality ticking. It is the surface you will actually feel through your sheet.
- Wool protector pad. A wool protector pad sits beneath the ticking. Wool naturally wicks moisture, which helps keep the sleeping surface fresh.
- Springs. 1326 vanadium steel springs, each with 6 coils, are hand-nested in calico pockets (the count is for the 5 foot size). Because each spring works independently, you get contouring support and less disturbance from a partner moving about.
- Borders. The borders are upholstered in wool and include air vents and handles. The vents let air circulate through the mattress and the handles make turning it easier.

- Room for two, room to move: You each get 67.5cm of width, a little snug for broad sleepers, but it leaves floor space for bedside tables on both sides in a typical UK bedroom.
- Independent springs at close quarters: The calico-pocketed springs work individually, which means your partner turning over is less likely to jolt you, and that matters more when you're sharing a narrower bed.
- Fits rooms a king would crowd: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, so it suits many second bedrooms and first flats where a UK king would leave you edging round the frame.
- A soft feel for lighter pairs: The Soft comfort level lets shoulders and hips settle in, so two lighter side sleepers can share a UK double without either feeling perched on top.
- Welcoming for visiting couples: In a guest room, a UK double gives staying friends a proper shared bed while leaving space for a chest of drawers and a suitcase on the floor.
This size suits you if...
You share with a partner in a standard UK bedroom and want bedside tables on both sides, or you're furnishing a guest room for visiting couples. It also suits you if you're both lighter side sleepers who like sinking into a soft surface.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner want more than 67.5cm each, or one of you finds 190cm too short. We'd recommend the UK king instead, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

How much space does each person get on a Vispring Realm UK double?
Two people sharing the UK double get 67.5cm of width each. That suits couples who sleep fairly close. A soft mattress lets you sink in slightly, so you may feel a little more tucked together than on a firmer bed. The UK king gives 75cm each, so the UK double gives you 7.5cm less each.
Will a Vispring Realm UK double fit in my bedroom with bedside tables?
For a UK double we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m feeling comfortable. At that larger size you can usually fit a bedside table on each side and still walk round the bed. If your room is nearer the minimum, measure the gap between the frame and your wardrobe doors before you order.
Does the 1326 spring count apply to the Vispring Realm double?
No. The published figure of 1326 vanadium steel springs refers to the 5 foot size, not the UK double. Vispring doesn't give a separate spring count for the UK double in the listing we've seen, so check with the retailer if the exact number matters to you.
Is the Vispring Realm UK double long enough for tall sleepers?
The UK double is 190cm long, the same length as the UK single and UK small double. If either of you finds your feet reaching the end of the bed, the UK king is 10cm longer and 15cm wider, and we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.
Will I feel my partner move on a Vispring Realm double?
Less than you might expect for a shared UK double. Each spring sits in its own calico pocket and moves independently, so a partner shifting on their side has less effect on yours. You're still sharing 135cm of width, so a very restless sleeper will be harder to ignore than on the UK king.
