Why should you choose this mattress?
The firm Responsive Support Core is built to cushion shoulders, hips and lower back while still pushing back, so you get support without feeling stuck on a hard board. The memory foam layer on top adapts to your shape, and a breathable high-density layer is there to keep air moving. The cover is removable and washable, which makes it easier to keep fresh. The base is made from 100% recycled foam offcuts. Overall it suits back sleepers and anyone who likes a firm feel, although side sleepers who want plenty of sink may find it a little unyielding.
Key features & layer details
Neufoam memory foam comfort layer
A memory foam layer set below the outer cover that adapts to your body's shape. That eases tension around your joints and hips.
Breathable high-density foam layer
A high-density foam that promotes airflow. It helps keep the sleeping surface fresh and temperature-regulated.
Responsive Support Core
A firm foam layer that cushions pressure points like shoulders, hips and lower back. It keeps push-back support so you don't sink too far.
Ecofoam foundation
A high-density base made from 100% recycled foam offcuts. It gives the mattress a stable footing while reducing its carbon impact.

Best suited for?
Back sleepers
The firm Responsive Support Core pushes back under your shoulders, hips and lower back, which means you get steady support without sinking in too far.
Warm sleepers
A breathable high-density foam layer promotes airflow through the mattress, which helps keep the sleeping surface fresh and temperature-regulated through the night.
Eco-conscious buyers
The Ecofoam foundation is made from 100% recycled foam offcuts, which means the base of the mattress has a lower carbon impact.
Combination sleepers
A firm feel with a memory foam top layer gives some contouring while the core keeps pushing back, so changing position should not feel like climbing out of a dip.
If you prefer sleeping on a soft or plush mattress, this might not be the best choice. The Vitality Excel is sold as a firm option, so lighter side sleepers may want more give around the shoulders. It's also single-sided, so you can rotate it head to toe but not flip it. Komfi also makes no mention of springs.
Save on an earlier or ex-display model
Some retailers still sell the earlier version of this mattress, or ex-display and returned stock at a lower price. These are the sizes where it costs less than the current model's best price.

FAQ's
How firm is the Komfi Vitality Excel?
It's sold as a firm tension, with a firmer feel described on Komfi's own page. That suits back sleepers and people who like solid support, although lighter side sleepers may find it a little unforgiving.
What sizes does the Komfi Vitality Excel come in?
It comes in UK Single, Small Double, Double, King and Super King. The Single, Small Double, Double and King are listed at 25cm deep, but Komfi's own page doesn't list the Super King.
How deep is the Komfi Vitality Excel?
It's 25cm deep. That's made up of four foam layers: a memory foam comfort layer, a breathable high-density layer, a firm support core and a recycled foam base.
Does the Komfi Vitality Excel come with a trial or guarantee?
Komfi gives a 10-year guarantee. Archers Sleepcentre offers its own 60-night trial, with exchange conditions that are the retailer's own, so check its terms before you buy.
Is the Komfi Vitality Excel good for hot sleepers?
It has a breathable high-density foam layer meant to promote airflow, which helps. It's still an all-foam mattress with a memory foam top, so very hot sleepers may want to weigh that up.
