Gel foam
A cooling gel foam sits at the top to counteract the heat retention of memory foam and keep the surface breathable. If you tend to overheat, this is the layer that matters most.
Memory foam
Memory foam works with the gel layer above it to give body-cradling comfort. You get that gentle, sink-in contouring, with the gel there to take the edge off the warmth.
Comfort foam
A dense layer of eco-high resistance PU foam that gives a soft, cushiony feel. It adds support beneath the softer layers above, so the top doesn't feel too sinky.
Convoluted foam
High resilience convoluted foam spreads your body weight evenly for targeted pressure relief. It should help the mattress ease off heavier areas such as hips and shoulders.
Encased foam edge
A 10cm encased foam structure surrounds the pocket springs for extra support and stability. It should make the sides feel steadier when you sit on the edge or sleep close to it.

You'll also need the room: we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, with more feeling comfortable.

Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum, or you'd be leaving yourselves no walking space around the bed. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 30cm narrower, the same length, and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

It measures 180 x 200cm, which is 6ft x 6ft 6in. That gives two people sharing 90cm each, and it is the same length as the UK king but 30cm wider. It is the largest of the five sizes Arthur Sleep offers for this mattress.
What room size do I need for the Cool Comfort super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m as a minimum, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling more comfortable, allowing bedside tables and walking room on both sides. This is our own guidance rather than the brand's. Measure door swings and any landing turns too, as a mattress this size is awkward to manoeuvre upstairs.
Is the super king a good choice for a restless partner?
It is the strongest argument for this size. With 90cm each, most movement happens too far away to wake you, and the pocket springs compress independently rather than transferring motion across the mattress. If one of you tosses and turns, sheer distance does more than any comfort layer could.
Will the Cool Comfort super king work if children climb in at night?
Better than any smaller size. The 180cm width is 45cm more than a UK double and 30cm more than a UK king, so a wandering child, or a large dog with established habits, can join you without pushing anyone to the edge. The cooling foams also help when extra bodies raise the temperature.
Is the Cool Comfort super king the same width as two singles?
Yes, 180cm matches two 90cm UK singles side by side, the same footprint hotel zip and link beds use. This mattress is a single piece, though, so unlike zip and link halves it cannot be split for tight staircases.
