- Cashmere. A luxuriously soft natural filling that sits at the top of the mattress. It's highly breathable with good moisture-wicking properties, which means the sleep surface should stay drier and cooler through the night.
- Wool. A natural insulator with strong temperature-regulating properties. In practice, it helps keep you warm in winter and stops heat building up in summer.
- Recycled polyester fibres. A layer of recycled polyester fibres that boosts the softness and comfort of the mattress. It adds a little extra cushioning between the natural fillings and the springs.
- Pocket Springs. 1,000 individual pocket springs, a count based on the kingsize, each responding separately to pressure. That means individualised support for your sleep posture, which can help relieve aches and pains.

- A shared bed that leaves the room usable: At 135cm wide, the UK double leaves space for bedside tables on both sides in most rooms, where a UK king often forces a choice.
- Pocket springs that suit sharing: The 1,000 pocket springs respond to each sleeper separately, which means less disturbance when one of you turns over in the night.
- Natural fillings across the full width: Cashmere and wool regulate temperature across the whole surface, so two people sharing 67.5cm each are less likely to build up heat between them.
- Fits typical UK rooms: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which most second bedrooms, first flats and guest rooms comfortably meet.
- Easy to dress on a budget: Double sheets and duvets are sold everywhere at every price point, a real help if you're furnishing a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed as a couple and your room sits around the typical UK size, where a UK king would crowd the walls. It also suits you if you're kitting out a first flat or a guest room and want a size visiting couples can share, with bedding that's cheap and easy to find. The medium firm feel works well for back and combination sleepers.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like to spread out, or one of you is a restless sleeper, and your room measures at least 2.7m x 2.9m. In that case we'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer.

Is the Aspire Natural Cashmere 1000 in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and the pocket springs respond to each sleeper independently, so movement on one side is less noticeable on the other. If either of you is broad shouldered or tends to sprawl, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
What room size do I need for the Aspire Natural Cashmere 1000 UK double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m being the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides plus a wardrobe and drawers, which matters if this is going in a second bedroom or a first flat where every metre counts.
Can I fit bedside tables both sides with a UK double?
In most rooms that meet our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, yes. Because the UK double is 15cm narrower than the UK king, it's often the difference between having a table on each side and one of you making do with a shelf. Measure your wall width against the 135cm mattress plus two tables before deciding.
Would the UK double or UK small double suit a solo sleeper better?
If the room allows it, the UK double is the more generous choice: it's 15cm wider than the UK small double, and both are the same length. That extra width is welcome if you share with a dog or cat who claims a corner. For a room under our 2.6m x 2.8m suggestion, the UK small double needs only 2.4m x 2.8m.
What bedding fits the Aspire Natural Cashmere 1000 UK double?
Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. This is one quiet advantage of the size: double bedding is stocked everywhere from supermarkets upwards, so replacing or upgrading it costs little. The mattress is 28cm deep, so check fitted sheets are deep enough to tuck fully under.
