Cashmere
A luxuriously soft natural filling that sits at the top of the mattress. It's highly breathable with good moisture-wicking properties, which means the sleep surface should stay drier and cooler through the night.
Wool
A natural insulator with strong temperature-regulating properties. In practice, it helps keep you warm in winter and stops heat building up in summer.
Recycled polyester fibres
A layer of recycled polyester fibres that boosts the softness and comfort of the mattress. It adds a little extra cushioning between the natural fillings and the springs.
Pocket Springs
1,000 individual pocket springs, a count based on the kingsize, each responding separately to pressure. That means individualised support for your sleep posture, which can help relieve aches and pains.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits almost any bedroom: At 90cm wide it leaves room for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a child's bedroom, which is where this size most often ends up.
- Natural fillings for growing sleepers: The wool layer regulates temperature year round, useful in a teenager's room that swings between stuffy summers and cold winter mornings.
- Guest room friendly: A spare room doubling as an office can take a UK single and still leave working space, and the medium firm feel suits occasional guests of most sleeping styles.
- Suits raised frames: The pocket sprung construction works on bunk, cabin and mid sleeper frames, though check your frame's maximum mattress depth against this model's 28cm before buying.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, and both are the most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager and want natural fillings rather than all-synthetic layers, you need a guest bed for a spare room that also holds a desk, or you're a single adult in a compact room, a loft conversion or a first flat where a 90cm footprint is the sensible limit.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who shifts around at night, or two of you will ever share it. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 45cm wider and the same length; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Aspire Natural Cashmere 1000 UK single good for a child's room?
Yes, with one caveat. The cashmere and wool layers breathe well and regulate temperature, which suits children who run hot at night, and the 90cm width leaves floor space for storage and a desk. The medium firm feel supports growing backs, although a very light child may sit more on top of the springs than into them.
Will the UK single Aspire Natural Cashmere fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The 90 x 190cm footprint matches standard UK bunk and mid sleeper frames. The thing to check is depth: this mattress is 28cm deep, and some raised frames specify a maximum so the guard rail still sits high enough. Measure from the base to the top of the rail before ordering.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which is our own guidance rather than the manufacturer's. That allows for walking room alongside the bed. In a loft conversion, position the 90cm width along the slope and you can usually keep standing height where you get in and out.
Is the UK single long enough for an adult?
At 190cm, or 6ft 3in, it suits most adults comfortably. Taller sleepers should know the UK single is 10cm shorter than the UK king, so anyone over about six foot may feel the limit. Width is usually the bigger compromise for adults, so consider how much you move in the night.
Where can I buy the Aspire Natural Cashmere 1000 in a UK single?
Availability shifts, so the most reliable answer is the live comparison table on this page, where prices are updated as retailers change them. It's worth comparing against the other five sizes too, since the UK single is typically the cheapest way into this mattress's natural cashmere and wool fillings.
