Layer Details
- Knit-Tex cover. A knitted cover with a tulip print, designed for breathability and airflow. In practice that means a fresher-feeling sleep surface, particularly useful if you run warm at night.
- Cashmere and Wool comfort layer. A blend of cashmere and wool fibres providing the main comfort layer. These natural fibres are highly breathable and help regulate temperature, which means fewer sweaty wake-ups than a purely synthetic top layer.
- Recycled polyester layer. A cushioning layer made from 70% recycled single-use plastic. It adds a little extra softness while giving the mattress a stronger environmental case.
- Eco foam layer. Made from 100% reclaimed foam, this layer moulds around your body to take pressure off your joints. It softens the transition between the fibre layers above and the springs below.
- Pocket+ springs. 1000 Pocket+ springs with thicker wire, special coil shapes and an extra row of springs, a count based on the kingsize. Each spring moves independently, which means the mattress adapts to your shape and you feel less of a partner's movement.

- The classic shared size: At 135 x 190cm, that's 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double is the long-established standard for two people sharing.
- Fits typical UK bedrooms: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which most doubles bedrooms manage while still leaving space for bedside tables on both sides.
- Independent springs help sharers: The 1000 Pocket+ springs move independently, which means you feel less of a partner turning over during the night.
- Natural fibres for two warm bodies: Two people generate more heat than one, and the cashmere and wool comfort layer helps regulate temperature across the shared surface.
- Easier to move in: At 23cm deep and in the double footprint, it's a more manageable mattress to get up turning stairs in an older terrace than a bulkier king.
- Bedding is cheap and everywhere: Double sheets and 200 x 200cm duvets are stocked at every price point, useful if you're furnishing a whole home on a stretched budget.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the standard couples' size in a room that couldn't comfortably take a UK king, or you're kitting out a first flat or a guest room for visiting couples and want natural fibres without a big spend. It also suits a solo sleeper who likes room to stretch out, even with a dog or cat claiming one corner.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space, and your room measures well beyond our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double; we'd recommend it instead if you can allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is a UK double Aspire Pocket+ 1000 big enough for two adults?
It gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, which most couples find workable, and the independent Pocket+ springs mean you feel less of each other's movement. Broad-shouldered pairs or restless sleepers may prefer the UK king, which is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double.
What room size do I need for the Aspire Pocket+ 1000 in a double?
The mattress measures 135 x 190cm, and we suggest a bedroom of at least 2.6m x 2.8m. That leaves enough space to walk round the bed and, in most rooms, to fit bedside tables on both sides. In a smaller room, we'd recommend the UK small double, allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m.
Should I get the Aspire Pocket+ 1000 in a double or a king?
Choose the UK double if your room is on the compact side or you're watching the budget; choose the UK king if space allows, since it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m of room for it. Taller sleepers will appreciate that extra length.
Is the double Aspire Pocket+ 1000 suitable for a guest room?
Yes, it's a sensible guest room choice: the UK double accommodates visiting couples as well as solo guests, the medium feel suits most sleepers, and the price keeps a spare room affordable to furnish. Some owners found it softer than expected, so firmer-preference guests may notice that.
