Layer Details
Knitted cover
A soft knitted finish that adds a touch of cosiness on top of the foam. It also enhances airflow and breathability, which means the surface should feel a little cooler than a basic foam cover.
Memory Foam
A 3cm layer of memory foam that cradles to your shape, which means pressure at your hips and shoulders is eased as you settle in. It creates a cushioned feel without the deep sink of thicker memory foam layers.
Reflex Foam
A 13cm base of sturdy reflex foam, a firmer, more responsive foam that does the supportive work. It promotes spinal alignment and moulds gently to your body, so you feel held on top rather than swallowed.

- A shared size for typical UK rooms: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double fits comfortably in bedrooms where a UK king would crowd out wardrobes and drawers.
- Room for bedside tables on both sides: Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m and most couples can still keep a table each, which matters more than a few extra centimetres of bed.
- Light enough to manage upstairs: A shallow 16cm foam build in this footprint is far easier to turn on a narrow staircase or tight landing than a deeper sprung double.
- A sensible pick for a guest room: Visiting couples can share it without you spending guest-room money on king-size comfort they'll use a few nights a year.
- Cheap and easy to dress: Double sheets and 200 x 200cm duvets are sold everywhere at every price, which helps if you're kitting out a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in an average-sized British bedroom and want the traditional shared size without a big spend, you're furnishing a first flat or second bedroom where the budget has to stretch across every room, or you're setting up a guest room that occasionally hosts two. The medium firm feel suits back and front sleepers who want support rather than a plush sink-in surface.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like to spread out, or one of you is a restless sleeper on this fairly solid foam. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Bodyshape Value Memory Mattress in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, the long-standing standard for British couples. On this mattress the firmer reflex foam base keeps you both supported rather than rolling to the middle, although if either of you sleeps starfish-style, the UK king's extra 15cm of width would be more comfortable.
What room size do I need for this mattress in a UK double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and, in most layouts, a bedside table each. This is our own guidance rather than the brand's, so measure your room including alcoves and radiators before deciding.
Is the UK double Bodyshape Value Memory Mattress easy to get upstairs?
Easier than most doubles. It's a 16cm foam mattress in a 135 x 190cm footprint, so it flexes and turns more readily than a deep sprung double, which helps on the tight turns of older terraced staircases or narrow new build landings. Still measure any awkward corners before ordering.
Should a solo sleeper get this mattress in a double or a single?
If your room allows it, the UK double is a pleasant upgrade: 45cm wider than the UK single at the same length, with space to stretch out or share with a pet claiming a corner. If your bedroom is small, the UK single needs only 2.1m x 2.8m by our guidance and costs less to dress.
Where can I buy the Bodyshape Value Memory Mattress in a UK double?
Compare the retailers listed on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so it's worth checking back rather than assuming today's price holds. Stock of individual sizes can shift too, so if the UK double is showing, that listing is current.
