- Cover. A sumptuously soft natural cover designed for enhanced breathability, which means heat can escape rather than build up around you. It also carries an antibacterial finish.
- Comfort layers. Deep polyester comfort layers sit beneath the cover. These provide the cushioning you feel first, softening the firm springs slightly at the surface.
- Springs. The support core uses individually wrapped pocket springs, 800 of them in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means less disturbance when a partner turns over.
Layer details from featherandblack.com product page, September 2026.
- 90cm each for two sharing: Two people get 90cm each, which means a fidgety partner is far enough away that the Harewood's independent pocket springs barely need to do any isolating.
- Firm support across a wide span: The firm tension keeps the surface consistent right to the edges, so nobody rolls towards the middle even on a 180cm wide bed.
- Space for the whole household: If children or a large dog treat your bed as theirs, the super king is the size where everyone still keeps a workable share.
- Motion isolation plus distance: Individually wrapped springs move on their own, and paired with this much width a partner turning over becomes genuinely hard to notice.
- A shallower build that stays manageable: At 21cm deep, a mattress this wide is lighter to rotate and easier to dress than chunkier super kings, and standard-depth fitted sheets stay put.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most sleeping space any standard UK size offers, your partner is restless enough that distance matters as much as spring quality, or children and pets join you often enough that a UK king no longer stretches to everyone. Your bedroom should comfortably clear our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under 3m x 2.9m, or the bed would dominate the room and leave awkward walkways. We'd recommend the UK super king's nearest sibling, the UK king, instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

How much space do two people get on a super king Harewood?
You get 90cm each for two people sharing, the same width per person as a single bed. On the Harewood that pairs with individually wrapped pocket springs, so between the distance and the independent spring movement, a partner shifting position is unlikely to disturb you.
What room size does the Feather & Black Harewood super king need?
We suggest a minimum of 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling more comfortable if you want bedside tables on both sides and clear walkways. In a large master or a period property with generous proportions, this size sits well where a UK king can look a little lost.
How much bigger is the super king Harewood than the king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length at 200cm. That extra width is the difference between managing alongside a restless partner and genuinely forgetting they're there, which is why couples who share every night tend to size up.
Is the super king Harewood suitable if children climb in at night?
It's the best-placed size for it. With 180cm of width there's room for a small visitor without either adult being pushed to the edge, and the firm tension holds up well under the extra, unevenly placed weight. Across a UK double or UK king, the same visit usually costs someone their sleep.
Will the Harewood super king be difficult to get upstairs?
It's a pocket sprung mattress, so it won't roll or fold the way boxed foam does, and at 180 x 200cm it's a large item to manoeuvre. Before ordering, measure your staircase, any landing turns and the bedroom door swing. The 21cm depth does at least make it slimmer to angle round corners than deeper sprung builds.
