Comfort Layer
100% Yorkshire wool blended with silky-smooth mohair, chosen for its springy, soft and resilient qualities. In practice that means a comfortable surface that recovers its shape rather than developing dips quickly.
Additional Comfort Fillings
Fine cotton, flax and hemp fibres that are naturally breathable and wick away moisture. You should feel noticeably cooler through the night than on a foam-heavy mattress.
Support System
Over 9,000 individual pocket springs encased in breathable fabric, each reacting independently. This gives tailor-made support and pressure relief, with less motion transfer if you share the bed.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Space to stop negotiating: At 75cm each for two people sharing, you can turn over without your elbow landing in someone else's half.
- Pocket springs that isolate movement: Each of the 9,000-plus springs moves on its own, which means an early riser slipping out at 5am is far less likely to wake the other side.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double at 200cm, so anyone approaching six foot stops sleeping diagonally or hanging their feet off the end.
- Natural fillings across a wider surface: Yorkshire wool, mohair, cotton, flax and hemp breathe and wick moisture, useful when two bodies share one bed and one of them runs hot.
- Room for the dog, within reason: If a dog claims the foot of the bed most nights, the extra width over a UK double keeps that habit from costing you sleep.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel like a compromise, especially if one of you gets up hours before the other. Or one of you is approaching six foot and needs the 200cm length as much as the width. Allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m of floor space so the room still works around it.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and costs less in a mattress at this price level.

Is the UK king Alwoodley 9750 big enough for a couple?
Comfortably, for most. You get 75cm each for two people sharing, and the independent pocket springs mean one person shifting or getting up disturbs the other less than a traditional sprung mattress would. If you're both broad or a pet sleeps between you, the UK super king adds another 30cm of width.
What room size do I need for a king size Alwoodley 9750?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with more feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables go in. New build master bedrooms often look generous empty but tighten up quickly, so measure with your furniture in mind before committing to the 150 x 200cm footprint.
Is the Alwoodley 9750 UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which is often the difference between feet on the mattress and feet in mid-air. The UK super king is the same length, so sizing up buys width, never extra length.
Should I choose the UK king or UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king suits most couples: proper space each without demanding a huge room. The UK super king is 30cm wider and worth it if you have at least 3m x 2.9m of floor space, share with a restless partner, or a child or dog regularly joins you.
How much bigger is the UK king than the UK double in this mattress?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. Split between two sleepers, that width is a modest but real gain, and the extra length matters more than people expect. On a mattress with this many pocket springs, the wider surface also spreads two sleepers across more independent support.
