Layer Details
- British wool. A layer of British wool creates a plush, sumptuous sleeping surface. Wool also regulates temperature naturally, which means you're less likely to wake up clammy.
- Cotton, hemp and flax blend. A blend of cotton, hemp and flax wicks moisture away from your body. In practice, that keeps the mattress feeling fresher for longer.
- Hemp and Ecotex fibres. Hard-wearing hemp and strong Ecotex fibres complete the comfort layers. These add durability, which means the surface should hold its shape over time.
- Micro springs. Layers of 2500 micro springs sit beneath the fillings, adding gentle bounce. They adapt to your body, which means a more responsive feel than fillings alone.
- Pocket springs. The base layer holds 1000 Cortec Quad Revolution pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, which means support where you need it and less disturbance from a restless partner.

- The classic couples' size: At 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double is the long-established size for two, sharing without dominating the room.
- Independent springs where it matters: Each of the 1000 Cortec Quad Revolution pocket springs moves on its own, which means a restless partner is less likely to wake you.
- Fits most bedrooms with furniture to spare: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which usually leaves space for a wardrobe and bedside tables on both sides.
- Natural fillings for two warm bodies: Wool, cotton, hemp and flax wick moisture, useful when two people share 135cm of mattress and the bed runs warmer.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets and duvets are stocked everywhere at every price, handy if you're kitting out a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, where the UK double fits comfortably but a bigger bed would crowd the door or the drawers. It also suits a solo sleeper who likes room to stretch out, or shares the mattress with a dog or cat that has claimed one corner. A guest room that regularly hosts visiting couples is another sensible use.
Consider another size if...
You both want more personal space than 67.5cm each and your room can take a bigger bed. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, so we'd recommend the UK king instead if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Bronze 3500 in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. Two people sharing a UK double get 67.5cm of width each, and the 1000 independent pocket springs reduce the ripple you feel when a partner moves. If either of you sleeps starfish-style, or you're both broad-shouldered, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
What room size do I need for the Bronze 3500 in a UK double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That's our guidance, not the manufacturer's, and it assumes you want to walk around the bed and open drawers without shuffling sideways. In most UK bedrooms the double leaves room for bedside tables on both sides.
Should I choose the Bronze 3500 in a UK double or a UK king?
It comes down to your room. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, and it fits comfortably where a king would dominate. If your bedroom offers at least 2.7m x 2.9m and you both value personal space, size up. If the double is your practical limit, it remains a genuinely comfortable size for two.
Will a UK double Bronze 3500 get up narrow stairs?
This is a traditional pocket spring mattress, so it arrives flat rather than rolled and cannot be bent around corners the way foam can. At 135 x 190cm it manages most staircases, but if you live in an older terrace with a tight turn, or a new build with a narrow landing, measure the awkward point before ordering.
