Layer Details
- Cover. An in-house woven cover made without FR chemicals, meeting fire safety standards naturally. That means a healthier sleep environment without chemical treatments.
- Wool. A layer of British wool gives a plush, sumptuous sleeping surface. Wool also regulates temperature well, which helps if you tend to sleep warm.
- Cotton, Hemp and Flax blend. This blended layer wicks away moisture, which means the surface stays feeling fresher through the night.
- Hemp and Ecotex. Hemp and strong Ecotex fibres complete the comfort layers, adding durability and structure beneath the softer fillings.
- Micro springs. Layers of 2500 micro springs sit beneath the fillings, providing extra bounce that adapts to your body shape.
- Pocket Springs. The base layer holds 1000 Cortec™ Quad Revolution® pocket springs, with each dual spring in a cloth pocket and secured in groups of four. This gives independent, targeted support and helps limit partner disturbance.

- Gentle enough for lighter sleepers: The soft to medium feel works well for the children and teens who most often sleep on a UK single, giving comfort without a hard surface under growing bodies.
- Natural fillings for warm rooms: Wool, cotton, hemp and flax wick away moisture, which means a child's small bedroom that heats up in summer stays a fresher place to sleep.
- Full spring count in a small footprint: You get the same 3500-spring construction as the larger sizes, so a solo sleeper isn't getting a cut-down version of the mattress.
- Fits where space is tight: At 3ft wide it leaves room for a desk and wardrobe in a child's room, or slots under the slope of a loft conversion.
- A guest bed people will remember kindly: Handcrafted UK build and natural materials make it a slightly indulgent choice for a spare room, more than a basic guest mattress needs.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager and want natural materials rather than foam next to them, you sleep alone in a compact room where a UK double simply won't go, or you're furnishing a spare room and want guests to sleep well rather than politely tolerate the bed. Lighter sleepers get the best from the soft to medium feel.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who finds a 90cm width restrictive, or you tend to move around a lot at night. The UK small double is 30cm wider at the same length, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.

What are the dimensions of the Harrison Spinks Bronze 3500 in a UK single?
The UK single measures 90 x 190cm, which is 3ft x 6ft 3in. That's the standard one-person size in the UK, so standard single sheets and a single duvet fit without hunting for unusual bedding.
Is the UK single Bronze 3500 a good choice for a child or teenager?
Yes, arguably its best use. The soft to medium feel suits lighter bodies, and the wool, cotton, hemp and flax fillings handle moisture well, so a warm bedroom stays comfortable. The FR chemical-free cover may also appeal if you'd rather avoid chemical treatments on a child's bed.
Will this mattress fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The width and length match standard UK single frames, but this mattress is 27cm deep, which is on the taller side for raised frames. Check the frame's maximum mattress depth and make sure the safety rail still sits high enough above the sleeping surface before you buy.
How much room do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space. That leaves enough room to walk around the bed and open drawers, which matters in a child's room where the bed competes with a wardrobe, a desk and toy storage.
How much narrower is the UK single than the UK double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and the two are the same length. If you're a solo adult torn between them, that extra width is the difference between sleeping fine and sleeping freely; we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for the UK double.
