- Mohair. Soft mohair sits near the sleep surface, which means a luxurious feel underneath you. It also helps regulate temperature through the night.
- Wool. Naturally insulating British wool keeps you warm in winter. It's a traditional filling for good reason.
- Cotton. Breathable cotton draws heat away in summer. Paired with the wool, it means the mattress adapts across the seasons rather than trapping warmth.
- Hemp and Flax. Hemp and flax add further natural loft alongside the mohair, cotton and wool. These plant fibres round out an entirely natural filling stack.
- Pocket Springs. 10,590 responsive springs form the support core, combining high-density micro, Posturfil and Cortec pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, which means support that follows your shape and less disturbance from a restless partner.

- Real room to spread out: At 30cm wider than the UK single, this size lets a solo adult change position freely without hanging an arm off the edge.
- Fits where a double cannot: It is 15cm narrower than the UK double, which can be the difference between a door that clears and one that does not in a box room or studio.
- Natural fillings, no foam: Mohair, British wool, cotton, hemp and flax regulate temperature through the seasons, which matters more in a smaller room where air circulates less.
- Springs that stay quiet for guests: The independent pocket springs limit movement transfer, so a couple sharing this size for the occasional weekend stay will disturb each other less.
- Standard 4ft bedding: The small double is a standard UK size, so 4ft fitted sheets and frames are easy to find, and a normal double duvet covers it comfortably.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want genuinely more width than a single, perhaps a teenager or adult in a room that cannot spare the floor space a double demands. It also fits a guest room or holiday let second bedroom where couples stay occasionally rather than nightly, or a loft conversion where a 4ft 6in frame would leave no standing room beside the bed.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed with a partner every night, in which case a small double will feel tight over time. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 15cm wider; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is a small double Conrad big enough for a couple?
For occasional nights, yes. The pocket springs move independently, so a visiting couple won't disturb each other much, and the mattress supports two adults perfectly well. For nightly sharing it is tight, and most couples would be happier with the UK double, which is 15cm wider.
What room size do I need for the Conrad in a UK small double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m. That gives you space to walk around the bed and open drawers or wardrobe doors. If your room is smaller than that, the UK single might be the more livable choice; we suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m for that size.
How much bigger is the small double Conrad than the single?
It is 30cm wider, and the UK small double and the UK single are the same length at 190cm. That extra width is the whole point of this size: a solo sleeper gets proper room to stretch out without stepping up to a full double footprint.
What bedding fits the Conrad in this size?
Small double, or 4ft, fitted sheets are what you need, and they are widely stocked since this is a standard UK size. A standard double duvet works well on top, giving a little overhang on each side. No specialist bedding is required.
