Layer Details
- Cover. A breathable Belgian damask fabric cover. It lets air move through the surface, which helps keep the sleeping temperature steady.
- Comfort Fillings. Layers of wool, Ecotex fibres, hemp and sustainably sourced cotton. These natural fillings provide comfort and breathability, which means less heat build-up than synthetic foams.
- Cortec Pocket Springs. A generous layer of Cortec pocket springs made without glue, each working independently. In practice, the springs adapt to your body's movements for tailored support.
- Micro Posture Springs. A layer of small springs that contour to the body in the way foam does. They add a comfort layer that adapts as you move, softening the surface of an otherwise firm mattress.
Layer details from mattressnextday.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm each for two sharing: Each of you gets 75cm of width, so a firm surface that holds you in place never feels like you're pinned against your partner.
- Independent springs, quieter nights: The Cortec pocket springs respond only to the body above them, which means an early alarm on one side transmits very little across the mattress.
- 200cm of length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so anyone approaching six foot stops finding their feet at the edge.
- Natural fillings across a bigger surface: Wool, hemp and cotton breathe well, useful on a shared mattress where two bodies generate more warmth than one.
- Firm support that doesn't sag at scale: At this width a soft mattress can develop two dips; the firm build and micro posture springs keep the surface consistent edge to edge.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double has started to feel cramped, one of you gets up hours before the other and you want that movement absorbed rather than shared, or one of you is tall enough that the extra 10cm of length over a standard double matters as much as the width.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone. The UK double would suit a smaller room, and we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double. Space-rich couples could size up to the UK super king.

Is the Ely Ortho 2750 in a UK king big enough for two people?
Yes, comfortably for most couples. At 150cm wide you get 75cm each for two people sharing, and because the Cortec pocket springs move independently, the firm feel stays firm without you rolling towards each other. Lightweight side sleepers should still note this is a firm mattress before choosing it in any size.
Will a UK king Ely Ortho 2750 fit up my stairs?
This is the question to take seriously, because the Ely Ortho 2750 arrives flat rather than rolled and boxed. A 150 x 200cm mattress needs two people to carry it and room to turn on landings, so measure your staircase and doorways first. If access is genuinely tight, the UK double, at 135 x 190cm, is easier to manoeuvre.
What room size does the Ely Ortho 2750 UK king need?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, which leaves walking room on both sides once the bed is in. That's our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. A new build master can be smaller than it looks once fitted wardrobes go in, so measure the clear floor space, not the room on the plan.
Is the UK king Ely Ortho 2750 long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, it gives most tall sleepers clear room beyond their feet. The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, and for many taller people that length is the real upgrade. If your partner is also tall and you want more width too, the UK super king keeps the same length.
Does a king size reduce partner disturbance on this mattress?
More than most, yes. The width gives you 75cm each, and the glue-free pocket springs respond to each sleeper separately, so when one of you leaves at 5am the other feels very little of it. Across the range of firm mattresses, this spring design paired with king-size width is a strong combination for different schedules.
