- 90cm each for two people sharing: Two sharers each get 90cm of firm, individually sprung surface, which means neither of you is negotiating for territory at 3am.
- Distance plus isolation for restless partners: Pocket springs already limit how far movement travels, and the super king adds physical distance on top, so a fidgeting partner registers a little less still.
- Room for children and pets: When a child pads in at night or the dog treats the bed as routine, the extra width means everyone keeps a workable share.
- A firm surface across the full 6ft: Back and front sleepers who like staying on top of the mattress get that feel edge to edge, useful when sharers end up spread out.
- The right scale for a large master: In a big period bedroom or a generous new build master, a UK king can look lost; the super king fills the space properly.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the maximum standard width UK retailers stock, your partner is genuinely restless and distance matters more to you than any comfort layer, or children and pets regularly join you and a UK king has started to feel crowded. You'll also both need to like a firm feel, because this variant doesn't soften for either side.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m minimum we suggest for a UK super king, or you sleep alone. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 30cm narrower, the same length, and suits rooms from around 2.7m x 2.9m.

How big is the Harrison Spinks Emerald 16500 in a UK super king?
This size measures 180 x 200cm, or 6ft x 6ft 6in. It's the widest standard UK size, 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length, so you gain sideways space rather than legroom. Two people sharing get 90cm each.
Will the Emerald 16500 super king fit in my bedroom?
We suggest a minimum room of 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable, and those figures are our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. Measure with wardrobe doors open and check the door swing, because a bed this wide eats floor space quickly in anything smaller.
Is the super king better than the UK king for restless sleepers?
Usually, yes. The pocket springs limit how much movement crosses the mattress in any size, but the UK super king adds 30cm of width over the UK king, and at 90cm each that extra distance does more for a light sleeper than any spring count.
Is the Emerald 16500 super king a good choice for families sharing the bed?
It's the most practical size for it. When a child climbs in or a large dog claims a corner, 180cm of width keeps everyone on the mattress. The firm feel also holds its shape under uneven, shifting weight better than a softer surface would.
What are the downsides of the super king in this mattress?
Cost and logistics. This is the largest, most expensive size of an already premium mattress, and super king bedding, including a 260 x 220cm duvet, costs more too. Check stair turns and landings before ordering, and compare the retailers listed on this page for the current price.
