- Sleeping surface. A chemical-free surface blended from wool and viscose. It sits directly beneath you and helps regulate temperature through the night.
- Natural fillings. Generous layers of British wool, breathable cotton, naturally cooling flax and farm-grown hemp. These fillings wick moisture and keep air moving, which means fewer clammy nights.
- Pocket springs. 9,690 responsive springs across five layers, combining high-density micro, Posturfil and Cortec pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, so the mattress adapts to your body, relieves pressure and lets air circulate.

- The traditional couples' footprint: At 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double has been Britain's standard shared size for decades, and it fits most bedrooms comfortably.
- Independent springs for two sharers: With 67.5cm each for two people sharing, the pocket springs move independently, which means your partner's turning over is less likely to wake you.
- Room left over for furniture: We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which in most rooms still leaves space for bedside tables on both sides and a wardrobe.
- Breathable fillings where two bodies share: Two sleepers generate more heat than one, and the wool, cotton, flax and hemp fillings keep air moving across that shared surface.
- Bedding is easy and cheap to find: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet are stocked everywhere at every price, useful if you're kitting out a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, where a bigger bed would leave no walking room. Or you sleep alone and want space to stretch out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also makes a generous guest room bed for visiting couples, provided your guests get on with a firm feel.
Consider another size if...
You or your partner is tall, or you both want more space than 67.5cm each. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double; we'd recommend it if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

What are the dimensions of the Harrison Spinks Owen in a UK double?
The UK double measures 135 x 190cm, which is 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. The mattress is built to a depth of 27cm across every size, so check your fitted sheets are deep enough. It's a footprint that suits most UK bedrooms, including older terraces and new builds alike.
How much space does each person get on a UK double?
You get 67.5cm each for two people sharing. That's the long standing UK standard for couples, and the Owen's independently moving pocket springs help each of you get support without disturbing the other. If either of you sleeps in a sprawl, the UK king adds 15cm of width.
Will a UK double fit my bedroom with bedside tables both sides?
In most rooms, yes. We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That guidance is ours rather than the manufacturer's. Measure the wall the bed will sit against and add the width of both tables before you commit.
Should I buy the Owen in a UK double or a UK king?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. Choose the UK double if your room is on the smaller side or you like sleeping close together. Choose the UK king if either of you is tall or restless, and your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
Is the Harrison Spinks Owen UK double a good guest room mattress?
It comfortably sleeps visiting couples, and the breathable natural fillings suit guests you don't know the sleep habits of. One caution: the Owen is firm, so lighter side sleepers among your visitors may find it a little unyielding. It also needs regular head to foot rotation, easy to forget in a spare room.
