Layer Details
- Sleeping surface. A chemical-free surface blended from wool and viscose. It sits directly beneath you and helps regulate temperature through the night.
- Natural fillings. Generous layers of British wool, breathable cotton, naturally cooling flax and farm-grown hemp. These fillings wick moisture and keep air moving, which means fewer clammy nights.
- Pocket springs. 9,690 responsive springs across five layers, combining high-density micro, Posturfil and Cortec pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, so the mattress adapts to your body, relieves pressure and lets air circulate.

- Fits almost any room: At 90cm wide, it leaves room for a desk, wardrobe or toy storage in a child's bedroom that has to do several jobs at once.
- Chemical-free surface for younger sleepers: The wool and viscose sleeping surface contains no synthetic foams, a reassuring detail if you're buying for a child or teenager.
- Breathable natural fillings: Wool, cotton, flax and hemp wick moisture and keep air moving, which means fewer clammy nights in a small, warm bedroom.
- Firm support in a one-person size: Five layers of pocket springs adapt to one sleeper's shape without a partner's movement to work around, so the firm feel stays consistent.
- Easy, affordable bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, and both are the cheapest and most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
- Pairs well in shared or guest rooms: Two UK singles suit siblings sharing or a guest room set up for separate visitors, with a walkway kept clear between the beds.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager and want natural fillings with a chemical-free surface rather than foam, you sleep alone and prefer a properly firm mattress, or you're furnishing a spare room or study that doubles as guest space and need a bed that doesn't dominate the floor.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who spreads out in your sleep, or you sometimes share the bed. We'd recommend the UK small double instead: it's 30cm wider than the UK single, the same length, and needs a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m.

What are the dimensions of the Harrison Spinks Owen in a UK single?
The UK single measures 90 x 190cm, or 3ft x 6ft 3in. That's the standard UK one-person size, so it fits ordinary single bed frames and takes standard single bedding. We suggest a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m so you can move around the bed comfortably.
Will the UK single Harrison Spinks Owen fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The 90 x 190cm footprint matches most bunk and mid sleeper frames, but the depth needs checking. This mattress is 27cm deep, which is more than many raised frames allow, as a deep mattress can leave the guard rail too low to be safe. Measure your frame's maximum mattress depth before buying.
Is a UK single Harrison Spinks Owen big enough for an adult?
For one adult, yes, provided you don't spread out much. The 90cm width is the standard solo size, though taller sleepers should note the 190cm length. If you want more legroom, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK single, although it's also 60cm wider and needs a much bigger room.
How much space do I need around a single bed in a child's room?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. In a child's room that also holds a wardrobe, a desk and toy storage, the 90cm width is what keeps everything workable. Position the bed against a wall and the remaining floor stays genuinely usable.
Is the Owen in a UK single a sensible spend for a guest room?
It depends how often the bed is used. The Owen's natural fillings and high spring count are aimed at every-night sleepers, so it's arguably more mattress than an occasional guest bed needs. For a spare room that doubles as an office and hosts visitors regularly, the breathability and firm support make more sense.
