Layer Details
- Wool comfort layer. Soft, springy British wool sits at the surface and moulds around your body shape. It's naturally breathable yet insulating, which means it helps regulate temperature through the seasons.
- Cotton, hemp and flax blend. Further layers of cotton and wool blended with hemp and flax fibres improve airflow within the mattress. These fibres also wick away moisture, useful if you tend to sleep warm.
- Mini pocket springs. A layer of 14000 mini springs contours to your body for personalised comfort. Because each spring moves independently, there's room for air to circulate too.
- Cortec Quad Revolution pocket springs. An award-winning layer of 1000 springs with a dual design, each in its own pocket and secured into groups of four. They're highly flexible, adjusting to your movement and weight through the night.
- Posturfil springs. A base layer of 1500 Posturfil springs, flexible and adaptable. They sense movement to keep support consistent as you shift position.

- Fits where a bigger bed can't: At 3ft wide (3ft x 6ft 3in), it slots into a loft conversion or box room where only a narrow footprint works, and we suggest just 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space.
- Full spec, smallest size: You get the same wool surface and all three spring layers as the larger sizes, which means a solo sleeper isn't getting a cut-down version.
- Breathable for one warm sleeper: Wool, hemp and flax fillings move air and wick moisture, which matters in a small room that heats up quickly.
- Sensible for a working spare room: A UK single leaves space for a desk, so a guest room can hold down a weekday job as an office without the bed dominating it.
- Contouring without a partner to disturb: The 14000 mini springs shape to one body, and with no second sleeper the motion-isolating spring groups are simply a bonus.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone, want natural fillings against your skin rather than foam, and are happy to pay for a mattress built to last years in one room. It also fits if your bedroom or loft conversion only takes a 90cm-wide bed, or you're setting up a spare room that doubles as an office and want guests to sleep genuinely well.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who spreads out at night, or a couple ever shares the bed. The UK double gives you 45cm more width at the same length, and we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for it.

Will the Harrison Spinks Palladium 16500 UK single fit a bunk bed?
Be careful here. This mattress is 29cm deep, which is deeper than many bunk, cabin and mid-sleeper frames are designed for. On a top bunk, a deep mattress can raise the sleeper above the safety rail. Check your frame's maximum mattress depth before buying; a standard low bed frame or divan is a safer match.
Is a UK single Palladium 16500 long enough for an adult?
At 190cm long it suits most adults, though if you're very tall you may want more room at your feet. The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK single, which is the route we'd suggest for taller sleepers, provided the room takes the extra width.
What size room do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which gives you room to walk alongside the bed and open a wardrobe. That's our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. The UK single's 90cm width is what makes it work under a sloped loft ceiling or alongside a desk in a spare room.
Is this mattress worth buying in a single for a child's room?
It's a premium spend for a child, but the case is longevity: natural fillings and a three-layer spring build that carries a teenager through to adulthood, rather than a cheap mattress replaced twice. The soft to medium feel suits lighter bodies well. For a bed that's outgrown in three years, spend less.
