Layer Details
- Comfort layer. Layers of plush British wool sit at the top, which means natural temperature regulation. You should feel cosy in winter and refreshed in summer.
- Comfort layer blend. Cotton and wool fibres are blended with hardwearing hemp and flax. These tougher natural fibres help the comfort layers keep their feel for longer.
- Sustainable layer. A layer of Ecotex fibres, made from recycled materials, completes the comfort section. It adds strength and durability rather than softness.
- Support system. Layers of 10,500 mini springs contour to your body for personalised comfort. An additional 1,000 Posturfil springs respond to your movements and weight distribution.
- Spring system. The base uses 1,000 Cortec Quad Revolution springs, each encased in its own pocket and secured into groups of four. Each of these springs contains a mini spring inside it, adding a second stage of response.

- Fits compact rooms: At 90cm wide it leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe and storage, and we suggest a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m.
- Medium feel suits lighter bodies: The soft to medium surface responds readily to lighter sleepers, which means children and teens get proper contouring rather than lying on top of an unyielding slab.
- Wool keeps young sleepers comfortable: British wool comfort layers regulate temperature naturally, a genuine help for teenagers who run hot at night.
- Springs that adjust as they grow: The mini springs and pocketed Cortec Quad Revolution springs adapt to weight and movement, so support stays appropriate as a child grows into a teenager.
- A guest bed people actually enjoy: Natural cotton, hemp and flax fillings give a spare room single a quality most guest beds lack.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child's or teenager's room where the bed shares space with a desk and toy storage, and you want something that lasts through their growing years. Or you sleep alone in a compact room, perhaps a loft conversion where only a narrow footprint fits under the slope. It also suits a spare room doubling as an office, where a 90cm-wide bed keeps the desk usable.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed, or you're a single adult who likes room to spread out. We'd recommend the UK double instead: it's 45cm wider than the UK single and the same length, and we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

What size is the Harrison Spinks Platinum 12500 in a UK single?
The UK single measures 90 x 190cm, which is 3ft x 6ft 3in. It's the standard one-person size in the UK, so standard single sheets and a single duvet fit without any hunting for unusual bedding.
Will the Platinum 12500 UK single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
Check the frame first. At 29cm deep, this is a tall mattress, and raised frames often specify a maximum depth so the safety rail still sits high enough above the sleeping surface. The 90 x 190cm footprint matches standard bunk bases; it's the depth that may rule it out. Measure against the frame maker's guidance before buying.
Is a UK single big enough for an adult?
For one adult, yes, though at 90cm wide it's snug if you move around a lot in the night. It works well where the room dictates the size, such as a loft conversion or a study that doubles as guest space. If the room allows, the UK small double is 30cm wider and the same length.
What room size do I need for a single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open drawers or wardrobe doors, with room left over for a desk in a child's room. Two singles in a shared or guest room will need noticeably more.
Should I choose the UK single or the UK small double of this mattress?
The UK single is 30cm narrower than the UK small double; both are the same length. For a child's room or anywhere floor space is tight, the single is the sensible pick. A teenager or single adult with a slightly larger room may prefer the small double, for which we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m.
