Layer Details
- Cover. A wool-blend cover woven in-house by Harrison Spinks, fire-retardant without any chemical treatments. That's reassuring if you're sensitive to chemical smells or simply prefer natural materials next to you.
- Fillings. Naturally cooling and moisture-wicking fillings, including responsibly sourced, fully traceable British wool plus hemp and flax grown on the Harrison Spinks farm. In practice this means better temperature regulation than foam, which tends to hold heat.
- Micro springs. A layer of 2,500 high-density micro springs sits above the main springs. These respond to smaller pressure points, which you'll feel as a cushioned, contouring surface at your shoulders and hips.
- Pocket springs. The award-winning Advanced Cortec Quad pocket spring system, with 3,250 springs in the king size. Each spring moves independently, so you get support where you need it and less disturbance when your partner turns over.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm of width each: The UK king gives 75cm each for two people sharing, which means you can both change position without brushing elbows every time.
- Two halves, less disturbance: Each zipped half has its own Advanced Cortec Quad springs, so movement on one side stays on that side, useful when your schedules rarely match.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a real relief if one of you is approaching six foot.
- Dual tension without a super king footprint: You can pair a medium half with a firm half in the UK king, so neither of you compromises even in a modest master bedroom.
- Natural fillings across the full width: Wool, hemp and flax wick moisture better than foam, which matters more when two of you are sharing the same 150cm surface all night.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want more personal space than a UK double offers, or you and your partner need different tensions and this size lets you order one medium half and one firm half. It also suits you if one of you is tall, since the 200cm length gives welcome extra room, and your bedroom meets our suggested minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
You want even more width, perhaps because a dog treats the bed as its own. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length; we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m of floor space for it.

Will the Pure Response in a UK king fit a new build master bedroom?
Usually, but measure first. New build masters often feel smaller once fitted wardrobes go in, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. If your room falls short after furniture, the walkways around the bed will be tight rather than the bed itself.
How much space does each person get on a UK king Pure Response?
The UK king gives 75cm each for two people sharing. Combined with the zip and link construction, where each half has its own independent pocket springs, that width means you feel less of your partner's movement than the raw measurement suggests. If one of you gets up hours before the other, that separation is the point of this size.
Is the UK king Pure Response long enough for someone over six foot?
It should be for most. The UK king is 200cm long, which is 10cm longer than the UK double, and that extra length is often the reason taller sleepers upgrade rather than the width. If you're well past six foot, note that the UK super king is the same length, so sizing up buys width only, never more legroom.
Should I choose the UK king or the UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and both are the same length. Choose the UK king if your room is around our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum; choose the UK super king if you have at least 3m x 2.9m and want maximum personal space. Both sizes offer the dual tension option, so that needn't decide it.
Is the UK king the smallest size the Pure Response Zip and Link comes in?
Yes. Harrison Spinks makes this mattress in the UK king and UK super king only, which fits its purpose: the zip and link design is aimed at couples who want independent halves. There's no UK double or smaller, so if your room can't take a 150 x 200cm bed, you'd need a different mattress entirely.
