Layer Details
- Cover. A damask cover that's soft to the touch. It's the traditional choice for a handcrafted mattress and feels pleasingly plush.
- Wool comfort layer. Layers of British wool blended with hemp and flax fibres, which means a sumptuous, plush surface that shapes around your body. Expect snug cosiness rather than a springy top.
- Cotton blend comfort layer. A cotton, hemp and flax blend layered throughout the mattress. Cotton is naturally soft and good at wicking away moisture, helpful if you run warm at night.
- Mini pocket springs. 1,800 mini Posturfil springs adapt with your body as you move through the night. A further 10,000 bouncy mini springs create pockets of airflow for lasting freshness and extra comfort.
- Support system. 700 Cortec Quad springs, grouped in fours within fabric pockets, give a flexible base of support. The system is made completely glue-free, so it's more easily recyclable at the end of its life.

- 75cm each, every night: Two sleepers get 75cm of width apiece, enough to settle into the plush wool and cotton layers without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Less partner disturbance: With 12,500 springs moving independently in fabric pockets, one of you leaving for an early shift transfers very little motion across the mattress.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a real difference if one of you is approaching six foot.
- Room to sink in softly: The soft to medium feel cradles rather than braces, and the extra width means both of you can nestle in without drifting into each other.
- Fits most master bedrooms: We suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m, which most UK master bedrooms can manage where a super king would feel tight.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double leaves you shoulder to shoulder, or one of you keeps different hours and you want their comings and goings to register less. It also suits couples where one partner is tall, since the 200cm length removes that feet-off-the-end feeling, and anyone whose dog has quietly claimed a corner of the bed as its own.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone and want to save space. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Ruby 12500 in a UK king good for couples?
Yes, and arguably it's the size where this mattress makes most sense for two. You each get 75cm of width, and the individually pocketed springs mean a restless partner or an early alarm on one side is much less noticeable on the other. The soft, natural-fill surface cradles each sleeper separately rather than tipping you together.
How big is the Harrison Spinks Ruby 12500 in a UK king?
It measures 150 x 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in. That's 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double, which sounds modest on paper but is a difference you feel every night, particularly if either of you is tall or tends to sprawl.
Will a UK king Ruby 12500 fit in my bedroom?
We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m so you can walk round the bed and open drawers comfortably. Measure with wardrobes and bedside tables in place: a new build master bedroom can feel smaller than the floor plan suggests once furniture goes in.
Should I get the Ruby 12500 in a king or a super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, with both sizes the same 200cm length. If your room can spare at least 3m x 2.9m and you want maximum personal space, size up. For most couples the UK king is the better balance of space and room fit.
Is the UK king long enough for a tall sleeper?
At 200cm, it comfortably suits anyone around six foot, with a little room to spare before your feet reach the edge. That extra 10cm over the UK double is often the quiet reason taller sleepers upgrade, even more than the added width.
