Layer Details
Wool and hemp blended fibres
The top layer is a blend of wool and hemp fibres, chosen for enhanced breathability. For you, that should mean a surface that lets heat and moisture escape more easily, which helps if you tend to run warm in bed.
Pocket springs
Beneath the fibres sit 9500 individually wrapped springs, under temperature-regulating wool and hemp. Because each spring works on its own, the mattress can respond to your body in separate areas, and it gives the medium feel its support.
Layer details from mattressman.co.uk product page, October 2026.
- 90cm each, every night: Two people sharing get 90cm apiece, which means you can both stretch out without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Distance plus pocket springs: The springs move independently rather than as one unit, and at this width a restless partner is both cushioned and simply further away.
- Space for company: If a child wanders in at 3am, or a large dog treats the bed as routine, a 6ft width means everyone still gets a fair share.
- 30cm wider than the UK king: The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length, so the whole gain goes into elbow room rather than legroom.
- Fills a large master properly: In a big period bedroom or a generous new build master, a smaller bed can look lost, while 6ft x 6ft 6in sits in proportion.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most space a standard UK size offers, your partner shifts around and you would rather add distance than tolerate it, or children and pets regularly end up in with you and your current bed feels crowded by morning. It also suits a genuinely large bedroom where anything smaller would look out of scale.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum for this size, or you sleep alone. The Sanctuary 9500 in a UK king would suit you better; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m for that size.

Is the Sanctuary 9500 super king worth it over the king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, with both sizes the same length. That extra width is the difference between a comfortable night and a genuinely undisturbed one if your partner is restless, since the Sanctuary 9500's pocket springs limit motion transfer and the width adds separation. If your room takes it, the upgrade is meaningful.
Will the Sanctuary 9500 super king fit in a 3m wide bedroom?
Just about. We suggest a minimum of 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, which leaves walking room but little else. Around 3.5m x 3.2m feels right, with space for bedside tables on both sides and drawers that open fully. Measure the door swing and any landing turns too, as a 180cm wide mattress tests both.
Is a super king Sanctuary 9500 big enough to share with children?
It is the best mainstream size for it. At 180 x 200cm you get 90cm each for two adults, so a small visitor in the early hours still leaves everyone a workable share. The medium pocket sprung feel also helps, because one person turning over is less likely to wake the rest of the bed.
How heavy is the Sanctuary 9500 in a super king?
Harrison Spinks doesn't publish a weight for this mattress, and at 6ft x 6ft 6in a pocket sprung mattress is a two person lift at minimum. Plan for help on delivery day, check stair and landing clearances in advance, and ask the retailer about weight and handling before you order if access is tight.
