Layer Details
- Pillow top. A cloud-like pillow top with additional micro springs, which means a softer, cushioned surface sitting above the firm support below. It's sewn on rather than separate, so the comfort layer stays put.
- Natural fibres layer. Generous layers of British wool, naturally cooling flax and farm-grown hemp. These fibres wick moisture and regulate temperature, which should help if you tend to sleep warm.
- Pocket spring layers. 7,440 responsive springs in total, combining high-density micro, Posturfil and Cortec pocket springs. Each spring moves independently, so you get support where your body needs it and less motion transfer across the bed.
Layer details from featherandblack.com product page, September 2026.
- Real distance from a restless partner: With 90cm each for two people sharing, plus 7,440 independent pocket springs limiting motion transfer, a fidgeting partner becomes easy to ignore.
- Room when the family piles in: If children wander in during the night, the 180cm width means everyone keeps a workable share rather than someone ending up on the edge.
- 30cm wider than a UK king: The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length, a noticeable difference when three bodies share the bed.
- Firm support across the full width: The Tennyson's pocket spring layers support each sleeper independently, so a heavier partner sinking in on their side won't tilt yours.
- Cool at scale: British wool, flax and hemp fillings breathe well, which matters more at this size, where two or three warm bodies share one surface.
- Fills a larger master properly: In a period property or generous new build master, a UK king can look undersized; the super king suits the proportions of a bigger room.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and one of you is restless enough that distance matters more than any comfort layer, your children or the dog treat your bed as theirs too, or your master bedroom is large enough that a UK king would look lost in it. You'll also want the Tennyson's firm feel, which rewards back and heavier sleepers more than lightweight side sleepers.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under the 3m x 2.9m we suggest, or the extra width would go unused. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

How much space does each person get on a Tennyson super king?
You get 90cm each for two people sharing, the most of any standard UK size. On the Tennyson that width sits over 7,440 pocket springs that move independently, so each of you is supported by the springs directly beneath you rather than sharing one flat plane.
Is the Harrison Spinks Tennyson super king big enough for co-sleeping with children?
It's the best mainstream option for it. At 180cm wide, a child joining two adults still leaves everyone a reasonable share, and the independent pocket springs mean a small body climbing in at 3am transfers less movement across the bed. The firm feel also holds up well under uneven, shifting weight.
What room size do I need for the Tennyson in a UK super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling more comfortable once you add bedside tables and walking space. That's our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. If your room falls short, the UK king needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m and gives up 30cm of width.
How does the super king Tennyson compare with the UK king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and exactly the same length, so you're paying for width alone. That extra width is what makes room for a restless partner, a child or a dog. Firmness, depth and construction are identical across both sizes.
Can the Tennyson super king be carried upstairs easily?
It's the trickiest size in the range to move. A 180 x 200cm mattress that's 30cm deep and pocket sprung throughout won't fold or squash the way foam does, so measure your door swings, stairwell and any landing turns before ordering, and plan on two people carrying it at minimum.
