Cover
An in-house woven, natural and chemical-free cover made from breathable Belgian damask fabric. That breathability helps heat escape rather than build up at the surface.
Top comfort layer
Layers of white wool and mohair, responsibly sourced from the sheep and Angora goats at the Harrison Spinks Yorkshire farm. These fillings give a soft, cushioned feel while wicking moisture away as you sleep.
Viscose wool layer
A blend of viscose wool derived from the wood pulp of eucalyptus, beech and pine trees. It cradles you in comfort while enhancing ventilation throughout the mattress.
Spring core
Five separate layers of springs featuring Cortec Pocket Springs and Micro HD springs, designed to react quickly to movements and provide targeted support. You feel this as support that adjusts to your shape rather than a single flat surface.
Bottom comfort layer
More white wool and mohair from the same Yorkshire farm, mirroring the top layer. This adds a base of natural cushioning beneath the springs.

- The classic shared footprint: At 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double fits comfortably in rooms where a UK king would crowd everything else out.
- Responsive springs at close quarters: With 67.5cm each for two people sharing, springs that react to small movements matter, which means your partner turning over is less likely to wake you.
- Breathable fillings for two: Two bodies generate more heat than one, and the wool, mohair and Belgian damask cover let that warmth escape rather than build up between you.
- Room left for the rest of your furniture: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which in a typical bedroom still leaves space for bedside tables on both sides.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet are stocked everywhere at every price point, a small saving that adds up if you're kitting out a whole home.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, somewhere around the 3m x 3m mark, or you sleep alone and want proper room to stretch out on a soft, natural surface. It also suits a guest room that visiting couples will use, since the soft feel is broadly welcoming and the footprint leaves the room feeling like a room.
Consider another size if...
You both like space and your room clears 2.7m x 2.9m, where a UK double can feel snug for two. We'd recommend the UK king instead: 15cm wider and 10cm longer.

What are the dimensions of the Harrison Spinks Winchester 13750 in a UK double?
The UK double measures 135 x 190cm, which is 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. That makes it 15cm wider than the UK small double and the same length, while the UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. It's the long standing standard size for two people sharing.
Is the Winchester 13750 double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. Two people sharing get 67.5cm of width each, and the five layers of Cortec and Micro HD springs respond to small movements, so you feel less of your partner's turning. If you both spread out in your sleep and the room allows it, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
What size room do I need for the Winchester 13750 in a double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and room for bedside tables, which is usually the deciding factor for couples. If your room is smaller than our suggested minimum, the UK small double is 15cm narrower, and we'd allow at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.
Can the Winchester 13750 double be delivered up a narrow staircase?
It arrives flat rather than rolled and boxed, so you're moving a full 135 x 190cm mattress through your home. In older terraces with turning stairs, or new builds with tight landings, measure the awkward points before you order. The double is easier to manoeuvre than the UK king, but it still needs a clear route.
Is the double a good size for a guest room?
It's the size most guest rooms are built around: visiting couples can share it comfortably, and a solo guest gets plenty of space. The soft feel won't suit every visitor, particularly heavier sleepers who need more push-back, but the breathable wool and mohair fillings keep it temperature-stable for guests used to something different at home.
